Hi I'm Andy

I grew up catholic in Utah. I became a Mormon 7 years ago.

About Me

I work as a physical therapist where I help people become more functional and lead more active lives. I have been married for almost 6 years to my best fried. I am a father to one daughter but I have another daugther on the way in the next few months. I enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking, and camping. I also enjoy good movies and finding a good restaurant to eat at with my wife, and to travel.

Why I am a Mormon

I wasn't always a Mormon. I grew up in a Catholic household where I attended services regularly. During college I had a conversation with my girlfriend at the time who was a Mormon about the basic beliefs of the church which lead to me receiving a book of mormon. At first I didn't want to read it, but after some time I started reading it and soon began to take the missionary discussions. A few months went by and I wasn't sure what to do so I read a lot of material from other churches. I began going to many different churches trying to find what I felt was the right church. I began to look to the scriptures for insight, sometimes staying up late to 1 to 3am reading and pondering. There was not a day that went by that my thoughts were not on this question. One late night, after feeling broken and lost, I offered the most sincere prayer I ever offered in my life, asking for guidance in finding Christ's church. As the tears came down, I instantly went from despair to a feeling of joy as I prayed about becoming a Mormon. I was baptized a member 2 weeks later. I know that Jesus is the Christ. That by his suffering in the garden of Gethsemane to his sacrifice on the cross and his resurrection, I can be washed of my sins. I know that our Father in heaven speaks to us both personally and through His prophet on Earth today. I know that this prophet is President Monson. I know that miracles can and do happen, and that the same priesthood that our Savior held is available to us today through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

How I live my faith

Through my church I have been able to serve in many capacities. I have had the opportunity to teach young children gospel principles. I have had the opportunity to lead a group of cub scouts. I have also had the opportunity to teach other families about Christ.

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

I had the same question before I joined the church. Though it might seem that only some Mormons attend the temple, actually all members are invited to attend, and attend regularly. Because the temple is a sacred place, we must be worthy to stand in such a holy place. That is why to attend the temple we must live by the standards that the Lord has set. There is nothing secret about the temple. It is a place where we make covenants with the Lord and to feel closer to our Father in Heaven. Show more Show less
