Hi I'm Marissa.

I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

About Me

I'm a Physician Assistant student who loves running, cycling, reading, photography, baking, and eating what I bake.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a home of religious diversity- everything from atheist to baptist and agnostic to gothic. I attended a non-denominational christian church with my mom and sister and had never even heard of Mormons until I went to high school. Through sports and activities, several of them soon became my best friends. They invited me to events at their church as I invited them to activities at mine. One Sunday they invited me to attend the last day of what was a weekend long youth conference. Their guest speaker was the great-great-granddaughter of Joseph Smith, Gracia Jones. She shared the story of Joseph Smith and her conversion to the gospel of Jesus Christ. In a very powerful way, the Spirit informed me that what I heard was true. As the result of that experience, I joined the Church of Jesus Christ and my life has been blessed in innumerable ways as I have grown closer to my Savior, Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

My husband and I teach Old Testament stories to 11&12 year old kids every Sunday at Church and help out the missionaries when we can. We read the scriptures and pray as individuals and as a couple. Mostly we try to help others and be good people, as the Savior would want us to do.

Are Mormons Christians?

Marissa.
Mormon is just a nickname for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. All of our Church teachings are centered around Christ. We believe in Jesus Christ as the Savior of the world. We believe that He atoned for our sins and that it is through Him that we may return to Heavenly Father. We are encouraged to read the scriptures to learn more about Him and we strive to be more like Him everyday. So, yes, we are Christians. Show more Show less
