Hi I'm Tyler

I'm a brother, a son, a friend, and a student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Tyler. I was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Right now my family lives in Minnesota. I live in Utah and I am currently in school studying Civil Engineering. It's hard, but I love to learn. I love to snowboard and wakeboard, and I love to work outdoors. I love my family, and I look forward to adding one more member in May when I get married to the love of my life. All of these things are important to me, but they would mean nothing without the Gospel of Jesus Christ in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in home where the church was important to my family. I have come to realize that this is a great blessing that others are not able to enjoy. But that is not why I am a Mormon. Even though I grew up with the church in my life, I had to decide which path I was going to follow. All of us in our lives have to decide where we are going to go in our lives and what we are going to believe. I am proud to say that I have made the decision to follow Christ in my life. There are many people and events in my life that have helped me make the decision to follow Jesus Christ. One thing that I love about being a Mormon is our emphasis on the family. I know that the family in ordained of God. And I know that families are able to be together forever through God's Plan of Happiness. I look forward to being married to my fiancé and starting our own eternal family. Another thing that reassures me of my choice to be a Mormon is the fact that we have a living prophet on the earth today. Just like Moses, and Noah in the Bible, we have a Prophet on the earth named Thomas S. Monson. It is his calling, along with the 12 Apostles, to deliver messages to us from our Heavenly Father, to help us become closer to Him. I know that Thomas S. Monson is a true prophet of God. Altogether, I am a Mormon, because it brings me happiness, and helps me be closer to my savior, Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through many different ways. There are some ways that are easier to see on the outside, such as daily prayer, daily scripture study, and attending church on Sunday. Other ways that I live my faith are things like serving others. I love to serve, whether it be helping someone move, or simply holding a door open for someone. I believe that as we serve we can feel Christ's love for others. Another way that I live my faith is through faith itself. To me this means trusting in our Heavenly Father in not only our religious lives, but also in our everyday lives; in school, work, and with our families.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

We do not worship Joseph Smith. We worship God, our Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, a man, just as Moses, Noah or Abraham in the Old Testament. Just as all other prophets he received revelation from God to help guide us in this life. Ever since Joseph Smith there has always been a prophet on the earth, the current prophet is Thomas S. Monson and he receives revelation from God and then gives his message to us, all of God's children. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is another Testament of Jesus Christ. This means, that just like the Bible it testifies and teaches of our Savior Jesus Christ and his teachings. Just as the Bible is an ancient record of the people and prophets in Israel and surrounding areas, The Book of Mormon tells of God's dealings with the people and prophets in the Americas. It is called The Book of Mormon, because Mormon is the name of one of the last prophets in the Americas. He collected different records writings of prophets and compiled them into one book, The Book of Mormon. With both the Bible and the Book of Mormon we can learn the fulness of Christ's teachings and we can become closer to Him and our Father in Heaven. Show more Show less

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

My short answer to this question: of course! We believe the Bible to be the word of God and a strong Testament of our Savior Jesus Christ. We learn so much from the Bible, we learn of the life of Christ and the early apostles, we learn of the ancient prophets who testified of his coming. I love the Bible, I love to study it and learn from it. I love the history that is intertwined with the doctrine. I know that it is the word of God. Show more Show less

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

A testimony is something you know to be true. But it is not just anything that we know, it is something that we know because we have faith, or because we have received a spiritual witness from the Holy Ghost. Many times you may hear the phrase "to bear your testimony", this simply means to say these things which you know to be true. For example; I have a testimony that the Bible and the Book of Mormon are the word of God, I have a testimony that Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God and because of that I know that Thomas S. Monson is the Prophet on the earth today. I have a testimony that Jesus Christ is our Savior and through Him we can be forgiven of our sins and live eternally with our families. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

Yes Mormons are Christians. We are Christian in every way possible. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. We believe that Christ is our Savior and Redeemer, and through him we can become clean from our sins. We follow the teachings of Christ and try our best to be good people and lead a Christ-like life. I am proud to be a Christian. Show more Show less
