Hi I'm Corie!

I grew up in nothern MI. I'm a wife and mother. I'm a teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife to a wonderful husband, a former middle school English teacher, stay-at-home mom to 4 beautiful children (so I am still teaching, just not in a formal classroom), and I am a book lover. I am also the oldest of 6 children and raised 4-H steers and lambs growing up. I have recently discovered more about my Native American roots as part of the Chippewa Tribe (part of the Ojibwa tribe). My husband and I enjoy music and love going to the symphony and other concerts. We also work on home improvement projects often! I enjoy crafting, digital scrapbooking, looking through old family photographs, and exercising.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up in nothern Michigan was fantastic, but also a trial of my faith. Being one of the only Mormons in my school, I learned to rely on the Lord for guidance and support. My faith was tried and I learned how important it is to feel the love of our Savior in my life. I also have found answers to my questions through study and prayer. These questions are answered in the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that my Savior and Father in Heaven love me, as well as all others on Earth. They have given us prophets today to teach us and keep Christ's doctrines pure and the saints unified. It is up to us to exercise our faith in Christ and His teachings, and be obedient to those teachings, so we can return to live with Christ and our Father in Heaven someday.

How I live my faith

Right now I work with the women in our LDS congregation. They are a great example of faith and service to me! Another of my favorite service opportunities at church is working with the children's group teaching them songs about Jesus Christ and His gospel. I try to take the teachings of our Savior into my home by reading the scriptures with my family, praying together, and spending time together. One of our children's favorite things is holding family night, where we sing songs, have a lesson about Christ, pray, have a treat, and play a game (tag and baseball are frequent requests!). The most important thing to me is to teach my family that I love them, that they are loved by our Father in Heaven and that we can return together to live with Him again.
