Hi I'm Mark

My wife and I live in Virginia. We are Mormons.

About Me

I grew up in Arlington, Virginia as the oldest of seven children. My wife and I have seven children. They are all adults now. We have three grandchildren. We are rejoicing in our posterity. I am a CPA and investment advisor. We are thankful to live in this beautiful area with many good friends nearby.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the Mormon Church when I was four years old. They taught the gospel of Jesus Christ to all of their children in our home. I came to know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and that the Book of Mormon is true during my teenage years. The Holy Ghost testified to me by its still, small voice of the truthfulness of the gospel. I would be a far different person today if not for the teachings of the Church and of its inspired leaders. I give thanks on a regular basis for the blessing of modern revelation from God which guides my life.

How I live my faith

My faith is in the Lord Jesus Christ. I strive with varying amounts of success to follow His perfect example. He taught that we should serve and love others. I recently completed a term of service in a local Spanish speaking congregation during which I was in charge of the young men of the congregation. It was great to watch them grow and progress. I have responsibility to visit some of the members of our congregation. One of those recently had an emergency trip to the hospital for abdominal pain. I responded to an early morning call from his wife. It was good to be with them in the hospital during his time of need. I am also the president of our local homeowners association. There are 63 homes in the neighborhood. It is good to help with some of the affairs of the association on a volunteer basis. I also serve on an international steering committee of group that is affiliated with my alma mater, Brigham Young University. We raise funds for scholarships and help alumni and friends of the school with employment and business education. Many people can be helped globally when volunteers and other resources are organized well

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

I really believe that there is a prophet like Moses alive today. He is President Thomas S. Monson. Not only is he alive, he reveals the Lord's counsel and instruction to all the people of the world on a regular basis. The Lord has said that He will not do anything unless He reveals His word to the prophets. (Amos 3:7)  President Monson is the Lord's mouthpiece today. He speaks the truth. He reveals God's will to us today. Show more Show less
