Hi I'm Zach

I have a passion for learning new things. I'm studying mechanical engineering. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Arizona, which means I like the outdoors. My family had 10 kids, and I am the second youngest. My mother past away when I was 13 years old. It was a very hard time in my life, but it has really shaped who I am today. I enjoy playing soccer and volleyball. Music is a huge part of my life. I love listening to various genres of music, but my favorites are jazz and classical. I play several instruments and enjoy singing. Right now I am in college studying mechanical engineering. I have always loved math and knowing how things work. I have a passion for learning. Last year I married my best friend, and we look forward to spending the rest of our lives together. I am interested in other languages and cultures. When I was 19 years old I served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I lived in Japan for two years and learned to love the people there and the culture. There were many people in the areas I lived from Brazil. As a result I was able to learn quite a bit of Portuguese on top of learning Japanese. I love talking to people about their lives. I find it interesting how much one can learn from another person they've never met. I know that we are all sons and daughters of a Father in heaven, and He love's us very much. I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, and that the only way to experience happiness in this life is to live by His example.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a Mormon family. I have 10 kids in my family of which I am the second youngest. My parents are amazing people. I lost my mother when I was 13 years old. She had a heart attack in the middle of the night, and didn't recover. That time was especially hard on my family. It also became a time where my family grew very close. We received a lot of help and support from other LDS members. Because I turned to God during this rough time, I was able to feel His love for me, and for my family. I have no doubt that God is there for us. I know that he knows what each of us is going through. I have known so many people that choose to be angry at God, and turn to other things in the world for comfort and support. Nothing else brings true happiness. The gospel of Jesus Christ is the only thing that can give hope to a 13 year old boy going through the loss of his mother. You can find countless stories on this website of how the teachings of Jesus Christ have brought people joy and hope in such a hopeless world. Once you have felt that true love of God in your heart, there is no way to deny that it is real. I am a Mormon because I know that this church has the same gospel that Jesus Christ taught while He was on this earth. I know that this is the way He provided for us to reach true happiness. I want others to know the same things that I do.

How I live my faith

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is not a place where people just sit around. The Savior Jesus Christ didn't just sit around, he taught by example and service to others. As members of the church we get that same opportunity to serve our brothers and sisters. I have held various volunteer positions in the church throughout my life. I volunteered for two years in Japan as a missionary. That was an experience that I wouldn't trade for anything in the whole world. There is an organization for the younger children in the congregation where I volunteered as a teacher. I enjoyed the experience of working with the children because of their simple but profound view on the world. I think they taught me more than I taught them! The church is very involved in the cub scout and boy scout organizations. I have volunteered in those groups. I have also volunteered as a secretary to my local bishop and I am currently serving as a secretary for the organization for the men of the congregation. I know that Jesus Christ spent His entire life serving others around Him. Because I want to pattern my life after His, I get a lot of fulfillment out of serving in these positions. I love my Savior, and want to be just like Him.
