Hi I'm Charity

I'm a college student who has too many books and not enough shelves. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm just happy to be alive! :D I'm going to college right now studying psychology. I love to travel the world and have lived in London, NYC, LA and hope to spend a few months in Jerusalem! I love sports, especially basketball, surfing and the martial arts. A few days ago I decided to train for a triathlon so we'll see how that goes. I also enjoy ballroom dancing and acting on stage. When I get stressed out I usually relax by reading, writing or talking to my friends. I like to do creative things-like cook experimentally where there is a 50% chance it'll be edible. I have a never ending bucketlist of things I want to do, see and accomplish before I die. In the end, however, I care more about my friends and family than any of the things I want to do in life. While I do love life, I realize that it can be really hard. My dad died a few days after my 11th birthday and my family moved A LOT throughout my life. Through the pain that comes with death, disappointment, and countless other challenges I have become closer to God and Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Mormon church. My mom and dad grew up in the church. I think a lot of my grandparents and great grandparents did as well. That's how I found out about the church but that's not why I'm a Mormon! I'm a Mormon because I believe in the religion. I believe that God is real. I believe Christ is the Messiah. I believe that Joseph Smith talked to God and Christ and that they speak to Thomas S. Monson, the modern prophet. More than that, I'm a Mormon because I'm happy when I follow the Mormon religion. People may not agree with my beliefs but I've tried them out for myself and can't deny they are true and make me happier! The more I follow Christ the clearer life is and the happier I become. It's hard to explain but I have a feeling of love, hope, peace, confidence and freedom when I choose to follow Christ. I'm a Mormon because I love Christ and want to follow him!

How I live my faith

I attend church every Sunday. I try to pray and read my scriptures every day because I want Jesus Christ to be the center of my life. It means a lot to me that God listens to my prayers. I don't feel alone. I know that God cares about me because I talk to him when I pray and because the scriptures and prophets of old testify he loves me. I plan social activities for other young adults at my church-like pool parties, picnics, soccer games and dances just so we can have fun! : I have a lot of friends who aren't of my religion and I love them with all my heart. I think that Christ wants us to show Christian love to those of our religion and of other faiths.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Charity
I've thought about this a lot lately. In the most basic sense, this life is the time to prove to God that will do what He wants us to do. Sometimes it's easy to ignore God's will and do what we want, but if we realize that God knows what will make us happy better than we do and if we do His will by keeping His commandments then we can earn great blessings like peace, eternal life and true happiness. I think we are also here to gain experience and grow so that we can become more like our Heavenly Father. Show more Show less

What is faith?

Charity
Faith is when you hope for something that you can't see or prove, but is nevertheless true. While we are on earth we need to rely on faith to follow God since we are not with him in Heaven. Faith grows by small steps. The great thing is that God promises us that our faith will grow if keep his commandments. James 1:5-6 says "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed." So don't be scared, ask God for yourself and start developing your own faith! Remember that it takes work but is worth it. : Show more Show less
