Hi I'm Gary

I launch startup companies and build spaceships in schools and museums. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have a beautiful wife and three crazy boys. By day I help entrepreneurs launch their businesses and by night I create spaceship simulators for schools and museums. I speak English and Mandarin.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Mormon family, so I attended the Mormon church ever since I was a little kid. As I grew older, my parents encouraged me to find out for myself if the Mormon teachings were true rather than just relying on their faith. Having read scriptures and attended church regularly I was already familiar with the doctrine, so my real "conversion" happened when I prayed to God and asked if the things I've been taught were true or not. God answered my prayer back when I was young, and he continues answering it any time I ask again. By living according to true principles and staying close to God through constant prayer conversations, my life has been richly blessed. I'm happy, and I know that the things the Mormon church teaches are true.

How I live my faith

On a personal level, I read scriptures and pray every day. Likewise, in my family we have family prayer and scripture study daily. We also hold a "Family Home Evening" each Monday night to draw closer to each other. We also do service together as a family whenever possible. When I was 19 years old, I spent two years in Taiwan doing missionary work, telling people about the joy the gospel of Jesus Christ has brought me.

How does the Church finance its operations?

The majority of church operations are paid by voluntary donations called Tithing. We donate 10% of our income each year as tithing. Show more Show less

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

In addition to the Bible, we know that God has given us other scriptures to help us learn even more about him and his plan for us. One of these other scriptures is called the Book of Mormon, which is where the nickname "Mormon" comes from. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No. We worship our Heavenly Father and his son, Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith is one of God's prophets and lived in the 1800s, just like Moses was one of God's prophets in ancient times. We have a living prophet today, too. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe happens to us after we die? What do Mormons believe about life after death?

We believe that God has a plan for us, and this life is just one part of that plan. We lived with God before we were born, and we'll return to him when we die. God gives us experiences in life to help us become more like him. Show more Show less

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Temples are special buildings where we learn about God and participate in "ordinances" like Baptism and Weddings. The work we do in temples helps families be together forever after we die. Show more Show less
