Hi I'm Mike

I live in Virginia. I'm a dad , a husband, a banker and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a father, husband, a jokester, a banker/ financial advisor. I enjoy baseball and 3 out of the last 5 years I have been the Fantasy Football Champion of my old neighbors Family Fantasy Football League. I was baptized into the church when I was 13 years old. It was the greatest gift my parents ever allowed me to do even though they are not members of the church, yet! My children, wife and I know we are Children of our Father in Heaven. We know where we came from and are grateful to know the purpose of our lives here. We are truly blessed.  My sister, Leslie, was just baptized. It took only 19 years for another family member to join the church. The gospel is true and I love it!

Why I am a Mormon

It gives me purpose. I love the feelings it gives me when I attend my weekly meetings. I love having my wife, kids and I at church learning about the things that are most important for our family. I am my best self when I am consumed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I love knowing that we have a prophet on the earth today that helps us in this crazy thing we call life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by saying my prayers every day and night. I live my faith by not keeping it a secret that I'm a member of the church. Because I do not keep it a secret, it gives me extra motivation to be a better example everywhere I go. I live my faith by fulfilling my callings at church to the best of my ability. I live it by serving others!

What is done with the tithing that Mormons pay?

Mike
The members of the church pay 10% of their earnings to the Lord. This money goes to building and maintaining meetinghouses, temples and other church related needs throughout the world. There is no paid clergy. Every calling in the church is done out of service. We believe when we are serving others, we are also serving God. Members of the church also donate to take care of those in need. Generally this money is given in addition to the tithing they pay. I love knowing my tithing does not go to a leader of the church. It goes where it should, to the Lord and His church's purposes. Show more Show less
