Hi I'm Nathan Jackson

I'm 28 years old. My amazing wife and I have a 3 little children. My family is my world.

About Me

I love to camp, backpack in the wilderness, hunt and fish, ride dirt bikes, and just be outside. I enjoy playing football and racquetball. I enjoy playing guitar when I have the time. I spend a lot of time searching for different records from my family to help me put together a family history. But mostly I love playing with my little ones and making them smile and laugh.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to parents that were members of the LDS church, so I was raised in it. I left it for a time as a teenager, and ended up very miserable. The further I went away from living what I knew deep down was right, the more unhappy I became. I eventually quit believing that there was a God, telling myself that there was no way to know either way, and to just not worry about it. But I continued to live a lifestyle of rebellion, and eventually felt very trapped. At that time, I opened myself up again, and asked God for help to relieve my suffering. I instantly felt a peace come over me. He heard my prayer! And not only that, He answered my prayer! At that moment, I knew He cared about me, and I began a long journey back toward Him. I began to pray daily. I enlisted the help of counselors. Slowly I came closer to God and overcame my bad habits. It was incredibly difficult, but I found that whenever a strong temptation would come, I could pray and ask God to take it away, and He ALWAYS did. I was never left alone. Eventually I started to read the Book of Mormon. As I read, I felt so much peace and strength come into my life. I couldn't get enough. After a few days of reading it, I got on my knees and asked God if it was actually true. He answered me. I know it is true. In the same way, I know the LDS Church is God's church. He put it here to guide us to happiness. I know He loves us, and will take care of us, if we will trust Him and follow Him. I know it!

How I live my faith

I currently serve in my church as a leader in our young men's organization for ages 12-18. I try to keep all of our various activities organized and running smoothly. At church on Sunday I am often asked to teach a lesson to the group on some gospel-related topic, and I cherish these opportunities, because these young men are so amazingly good, and it makes you want to be better, and gives you hope for the future. I also serve twice a month in the Portland Temple where I help with different ordinances that are performed there. I love to be in the temple. There is a great peace that is there.
