Hi I'm Shane

I'm a cartoonist and a writer, I make video games, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up loving cartoons and video games. As it turns out, if you waste enough of your childhood on those things, you can get a career in them when you grow up! I develop stories, write dialogue, and draw and design characters for video games. My wife and I have two little girls and a third child on the way. We love music, movies, and traveling. I love basketball and football, especially in their preferable, fantasy forms; I've never lost a game of Disney trivia... I kind of majored in it; and, for someone who lives so far inland, I have what would probably be considered an irrational fear of sharks.

Why I am a Mormon

I’ve spent much of my life considering faith and religion. I’ve studied the scriptures and had deep conversations with great men and women who know a lot more than I do. All of this study and thought has given me a better understanding of many things, but when it comes right down to it, I am a Mormon because of prayer. It is through prayer that I received a testimony of Jesus Christ. Prayer has continuously helped me to feel the great love and concern that our Heavenly Father has for me, on a very personal level. I have witnessed miracles as friends, family members, and I have been protected and healed through prayer. I have also knelt in prayer and asked for assurances from God that Joseph Smith, the Book of Mormon, and modern day prophets and their teachings are true. I know that they are. I am who I am and believe what I believe because of prayer. The ability to speak with God at any moment has brought me peace and happiness on even my most difficult days. I believe that the purpose of life is to be happy, and I have found happiness through living the teachings of Jesus Christ that are found within the continuing revelations of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This church is led by Jesus Christ himself and contains everything that we need to have and know to be able to live with our families and with God forever... and that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I do my best to live my life according to the example and teachings of Jesus Christ. Sometimes I’m not as patient or kind as I should be, and I occasionally hurt someone’s feelings or say something I shouldn’t. I’m far from perfect, but I’m working on it, and thanks to repentance, I’m getting closer to becoming the kind of person I would like to be. My wife and I are teaching our daughters to treat others with respect and consideration, and to take responsibility for their actions. It’s important to me that they understand who they are, where they came from, and where they’re going. Our family prays together every day, and we attend church every week. I enjoy teaching lessons and giving talks in church whenever they’ll let me… I tend to have a lot to say. I’m not very good at building or repairing things, but I serve in the community when I can. I also attend weekly meetings with local church leaders to discuss what can be done to support the welfare of families in our neighborhoods. Mostly I’m just trying to be good and make people smile.
