Hi I'm Yvonne

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife, mother and stepmother of 7 children, grandmother of 12. My husband and I are Americans currently living in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Because my parents died when I was a young girl, I have always felt a great desire to make the most of every minute I have on this earth. Neither of my parents reached their 50th birthday, and as a child I didn't know many older people, so I assumed it was normal not to live beyond 50. Am I ever grateful that wasn't true. I am an amateur photographer, movie enthusiast, and a couple of years ago began running, and I love it. It is a great way for me to stay healthy.

Why I am a Mormon

Back in 1971 I was a single mom with a 17 month old son in need of a babysitter. I was referred to a wonderful woman who was the mother of 3 children--one a 5 month old son. She began babysitting for me and after a little over a year she invited me to attend the weekly evening activities for women. I attended for about a year and I loved it. I could see these women had something special in their lives. I wanted to know more, so I began to meet with the missionaries. After meeting with them and attending Church for a year, my questions were answered, and my testimony developed. I was baptized on April 6, 1974. Yes, joining the Church meant I had to make a great many changes, but each and every one of them was for my best good and I am a much happier person today because of the things that I have learned and the things that I live and have taught my children. I am so grateful to have a testimony and to know that families can be together forever, and that I will see my parents again.

How I live my faith

Each and every day I strive through prayer to seek to do the things that would be pleasing to my Heavenly Father. I want to always be a good example to my children and grandchildren as well as my friends and neighbors. There is such peace that comes in living the Gospel. I will always be so grateful that I have it in my life, that I know I am a daughter of God who loves me and who loves all of His children

What is the Relief Society?

The Relief Society is the Woman's organization in the Church and has the motto "Charity Never Faileth". I love that and I love Relief Society. As a woman in the Church, I am grateful to be a part of this organization that helps me be a better wife, mother, and woman. Part of the purpose of Relief Society is to help us each build our faith and personal righteousness. I love the emphasis that is placed on creating homes and families that are filled with love and desire to cherish and serve one another. To know that I am a daughter of God and that I can always turn to my Heavenly Father and my Savior has given me such peace. Show more Show less
