Hi I'm Ian Falkner

I love family, friends, & good laughter, I am a car enthusiast, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am currently serving a mission in St. Louis Missouri! I love serving the Lord! It has been a wonderful experience. I love cars, more specifically Jeeps, but anything with a big engine or big tires i like it! I love hiking and being outdoors. My family is #1 and that's why I am serving a mission, so I can help people find the happiness the Lord gives us through the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Growing up I was very active in my High School! I loved being involved and socializing with everyone. I worked at a Credit Union before i decided to serve a mission. While I was working I was going to school at the local community college. I spent one semester at Local University and while i was there fell in love with writing! I really enjoy journalism and poetry. When I get home I hope to be able to get a job working for some type of newspaper agency and work my way to getting my degree in Communications of Journalism. I am so excited for what life has to offer me, and where the Lord is going to take me in this life!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because i wanted to be closer God, and i wanted to know Jesus Christs role in my life. The Book of Mormon and Bible helped me come to an understanding of my purpose in life. Because i am a Mormon i have drawn closer to my Heavenly Father & Savior! I love being a Mormon! I remember thinking that as long as you went to church on Sunday God wouldn't really care what you did throughout the week as long as you showed up for church on Sunday, boy was i wrong. I came to learn that the Atonement of Jesus Christ is very real, and very personal to me. Because of this i have dedicated my self to the Lord and His Church. This is Christ's Church and you have to be actively engaged in the gospel to receive the blessings of the gospel.

How I live my faith

I am serving a mission for The Church as a representative of Jesus Christ! I get to dedicate two years of my life to full-time missionary work. It is the best thing i have been able to be apart of thus far in my life. I have had so many opportunities to help others draw near to their Father in Heaven and Savior. I live my faith by doing my best to follow the example of Jesus Christ, i often fall short of that, but i am doing my best and leaning on his grace to help me with the rest. I live my faith by following the words of a Prophet, he is the Lords mouthpiece here on the earth today and is a blessing to all who will hear his council.

What is being a Mormon like?

Ian Falkner
It is like being a member of one big eternal family! As a member of the church we go through life as does everyone else that walks the face of the earth. We too have been the shoulder that was cried on and we too have needed a shoulder to cry on. We as members of the church seek to lift others and do as our Savior Jesus Christ would do with others. Being a member of this church is so special to me, i know that if i every need something, that the spirit is working through the members of the church and they will find me in my time of need and they will help raise me up and continue on my path to my loving Heavenly Father. Why is family so important to Mormons?

Ian Falkner
Families are important to Mormons because God has ordained the families as the main social unit. I can't begin to express the love I have for my family. They are all my best friends. I know that at a drop of a pin anyone from my family would be there for me and help me in a time of need. We are here to stand as witnesses of Christ, He will always be thei efor us and as members of his church we strive to do the same for our fellow members. We are as one big family. Heavenly Father isn't called Heavenly Father just to give him a nice title, he is literally our Father. We have our earthly families as well, but we can't forget that we are all children of our Heavenly Father and just as our parents here on earth would always want us to stand together as a family so does our Heavenly Father he wants us all to love and cherish one another. I love my family with all my heart, I am so thankful I am going to be with them FOREVER! It brings joy to my heart that we will get to be with each other always and that I don't have to worry about not seeing them again.   Show more Show less

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Ian Falkner
The Mormon lifestyle is probably very similar to many other people you know! It is a shocker isn't it! We live normal lives and we enjoy family, friends, movies, sports, video games, etc. We just know that we need to put God before these worldly matters. As a Mormon we live a certain standard that God has set for us to live, and it is a big part of this test of us being here on earth. We are to live in accordance to what is proper and pleasing in the eyes of God and not in the eyes of the world or in the eyes of man. God has blessed us with so many wonderful things to do in this life. We enjoy the goodness of life, if it is lovely, or of good report. I believe if it is true happiness it can be relayed back to God, and it will make you happy for more than a few seconds. Things that are of God and are virtuous have no end. For example I love "Jeeping" or "Off-roading". The reason I love this so much is you get to be in the beautiful nature that God created for us! He has made these things for us to enjoy. I also enjoy snowboarding, because you get to carve down a mountain and ponder the wonders of God and how he made these magnificent mountains and all that they encompass. Show more Show less

Who are the Mormons?

Ian Falkner
Mormons are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The title "Mormon(s)" is merely a nickname. It is something that from the early days of the church was given as a nickname to Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As members of The Church we have been referred to as Mormons for so long that it would seem impossible to have that nickname fade away or to do away with it. With that we do our best to embrace it and do it with a smile on our face. The world can call us whatever pleases them, but as a Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints i know that i am a follower of Christ and i do my best to show it day to day. Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

Ian Falkner
Because it is a testament of Jesus Christ! The Book of Mormon and Bible are two witnesses of Christ and they help us all draw more near to our Savior. Show more Show less

In whom should we have faith?

Ian Falkner
Jesus Christ. I have learned so much about faith as a missionary. I have walked the streets of one of the highest crime rated cities in the nation. These people struggle with life. They have let worldy things get in the way of their progression. These same people change because of faith. On the bus I overheard a man talking to a friend on his cell phone. He was talking about how he had once been addicted to an illegal drug. He was talking to his friend about another friend that they wanted to help overcome this addiction. He kept telling him they had to help him get his heart in it so he could quit. People have faith they just don't always refer to it as faith. This man knew his friend could quit, because he had quit and he had to believe or have faith himself. I kept thinking this guy has to know who Jesus Christ is, because he couldn't have done this alone. As I was getting off the bus I gave him a card for a free DVD about Christ and I suggested that his friend could use this to help him find that faith or "get his heart in it". You could see the smile on this mans face that he knew Christ had helped him. I hope he will be able to help his friend know that its because of Christ that we can overcome these kinds of things. Faith enabled Moses to split the sea, faith enabled many afflicted & ill people to be healed as we read in the Bible. Well we also read in the Bible that God is the same today, yesterday, and forever. Have faith and you will be able to see miracles! Show more Show less
