Hi I'm Cindy

I'm a mother of 5. I'm a homeschooler. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a homeschooling mom. I majored in physics and math in college and I enjoy teaching. Being a mother of 5 is the hardest thing I've ever done. I wake up every morning happy and thankful for who I am and where I am.

Why I am a Mormon

Everyone has an internal desire to belong to something meaningful. Belonging to this church is more real and satisfying than anything else I have every expereienced in my life. I feel like I can put my whole heart and soul into this church and come out feeling satisfied, like it was worth every ounce of effort. I feel that this church is God's true church on the Earth, and that He is happy that I am a member of this church. My parents were members of the church when I was born. I was raised Mormon. I am thankful that I was raised by good Christian, God fearing people. They have taught me how to behave correctly and how to serve those around me. I want to raise my children in that same way. Faith in God is the most important thing I can teach my children. I know that it will bring them happiness and peace in this life. Isn't that what every mom wants for her kids!

How I live my faith

At church on Sunday I have the supremely wonderful opportunity to teach the children songs about the gospel, about Jesus Christ, about being a good person, about many gospel topics. I don't have the best singing voice, but the children don't seem to mind as much. I love to hear the children singing about Jesus. I love the challenge of coming up with fun activities for them each Sunday. I have visit a woman who is widowed each month to check on her and see how she is doing. She lost her husband about two years ago and her health isn't so great. She loves to see my children and watch them play. My husband is a college math teacher. I taught math in junior high and high school before having children. Because of our math backgrounds we're constantly being asked for math tutoring help. Because we noticed this need we started having tutoring nights at our house twice a week during the school year. Everyone is invited who wants to come. We don't charge anything for it, except for a little babysitting now and then. We enjoy being with and helping the teenagers in the area where we live. They are a lot of fun.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

God is perfect. If we want to be with God, our Heavenly Father, we need to be perfect too. I don't know about you, but I have a hard time being perfect all the time. When I make mistakes I need to fix the mistake. I can't fix it all on my own, I needed help, and that is why God gave us his Son. As is says in the Bible, God loved us so much that he gave us his Son. He gave us Jesus as a sacrifice, and that sacrifice makes it possible for us to repent, to wipe away the mistakes of the past ans start new. If I didn't have repentance avaliable, because of the atonement of Jesus Christ, I would be weighed down by my many mistakes and sins and it would make it hard for me to continue to learn and grow. Repentance makes it possible for me to leave my mistakes behind, and continue learning and growing. I need Jesus, I need the atonement, we all do. Show more Show less

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

I know people who have been addicted to pornography. It's scary because they are truly addicted, and because it does effect their families and the ones they love. I don't want this to effect my family or the family that my children will have some day. I have young children. As they grow up I plan on teaching them to avoid pornography in all forms. I believe that teaching our children and keeping our children safe from pornography will help, in a very small way, to stop the evils of pornography. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

There are good people all over the world who will live and die never having heard of Christ's Church. Will they be sent to hell? No! God loves them too. They will have the opportunity to join God's church and receive baptism just like everyone else. They can't be baptized after they die because they have no body. Mormons perform baptisms in the their temples in place of people who have died so that they can accept or reject the gospel of Jesus Christ in the next life. Show more Show less
