Hi I'm James

I'm a Missionary, I love the water, I love helping everyone, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the youngest of four boys, and I grew up in California. I love just about anything to do with being in the water including swimming, water polo, white water rafting, you name it. I really enjoy watching baseball and college basketball, among other sports. I am currently serving as a missionary in the state of Montana for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Schooling is very important to me, and so is learning. I hope to study and be involved in the field of medicine, doing my best to help those that need it. I've coached water polo, been a lifeguard, and served tables as some of the jobs that have had in the past. I learn from my past, but I look forward with faith towards the future.

Why I am a Mormon

I have chosen to be a member of this church because I know in my heart and mind that it's true. I grew up as a mormon, but I never really knew that what I had been taught was true. After graduating from High School, I had little to do with the church, and I felt like my life was going well. Not soon after graduation, I got into a car accident that made me stop and take time to think more. As a result of many hours of thinking and pondering, I felt impressed to look at religion again, and though not intially what I expected, I found myself back going to church. When I came back to church, I began to read the Book of Mormon on my own, for the first time, so that I could know if it was true. Through my study, and through my sincere prayers to my Heavenly Father, I received an answer that it, the Book of Mormon, was true. From then, to where I am now, I have continued to learn more about the Savior, Jesus Christ, which has led me to be a better person, serve others and look forward to my future with greater understanding of God's eternal plan.

How I live my faith

I practice my faith in Jesus Christ one day at a time. I realize that without Him, I can do nothing, so I rely on Him to lead me and teach me what I can do with my life. I know that I make many mistakes, but that I can learn from those mistakes, and seek forgiveness through repentance. I have served in a variety of callings (or responsibilities) in the church, the greatest of which has been serving as a full-time missionary, sharing the truth of what I know with everyone and anyone who would listen to it. I believe in doing good to others, which is why I find so much joy, satisifaction, and love in serving other people, in whatever way I can. When a call comes from someone who needs something, I do all I can to help that person.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

All people will come to know Heavenly Father by seeking him out through prayer. A favorite scripture of mine, from the epistle of James, chapter 4 verse 8 reads, "Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh unto you..." He wants everyone to know Him, and to hear Him, but we must seek Him first. Even if at first we don't know if God even exists, what better way to find out then to ask Him? In the Book of Mormon, there is an account of a King, who did not know of the existence of God, but after hearing the teachings of one of God's messengers, he prayed to Him, with the desire to know if God was real. In Alma 22:18 it reads, "O God, Aaron hath told me that there is a God; and if there is a God, and if thou art God, wilt thou make thyself known unto me, and I will give away all my sins to know thee, and that I may be raised from the dead, and be saved at the last day..." The king received an answer to his prayer, and as a result, he and all his household became converted to the Lord. The promise that we have received from God is that if we ask in faith, He will answer us. Show more Show less
