Hi I'm Briton

I'm an army brat. I work with political refugees from all over the world and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a military family and moved all over the United States. I grew up with a penchant for all things international and graduated with a BA degree in International Relations. I speak Spanish and English and have learned some French, Italian, Arabic and Persian. I love working with refugees and am constantly amazed by their resilience and determination. I have gained a stronger desire to be a full fledged world citizen and I fully credit my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for where I am in my career and life. I am a refugee job developer, I am a college graduate, I am getting my MBA, and I am a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I grew up within a Mormon family, when I was about 14 everyone in my immediate family stopped going and believing that Christ restored his church. Even at that young age, I had a firm grasp on why I was a Mormon. I know that God lives. I know that Jesus Christ is His son and that He died for me. I know that no matter how good I am I cannot and will not be saved without Christ's grace. I also know that prophets are an essential part of God's plan. The Bible was written by prophets. I knew then and know now that prophets are living on the Earth once again. God has a plan for me, and it doesn't consist solely of me worshiping Him forever, but it consists of Him helping me become like Him and having everything that He has. What love!!

How I live my faith

I work within the Scouting program in my ward. Mentoring and helping these young men gain self-confidence and learn reliance on our Savior is very satisfying. I love to associate with other members and visit them in their homes monthly sharing special messages from the Scriptures. While at work I work with others of many various religions: Muslim, Catholic, Protestant, or no religion at all. I show respect for their beliefs and live in a way that they can respect mine.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Joseph Smith Jr. was born in 1805 in Sharon, Windsor County, Vermont, to Joseph and Lucy Mack Smith. He had 10 brothers and sisters. His parents taught him to pray, read the Bible, and to have faith in God. At age 14, as an answer to fervent prayer, Joseph saw God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, in his First Vision. At age 17, Joseph began to receive heavenly messengers who prepared him for his role in the Restoration of the Church of Jesus Christ to the earth. He was a prophet, just like Moses, Isaiah and others in biblical times. He was strengthened by God to fulfill His mission much as was Jeremiah who said, “Ah Lord God! Behold I cannot speak: for I am a child. But the Lord said unto me, Say not I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak” (Jeremiah 1:6-7). Show more Show less
