Hi I'm Carmel

I'm a native Californian, living in Utah. I sing, read, and cook. I'm a mom-to-be, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Just a girl living in Utah. I enjoy cooking, making jewelry, hanging out with my husband and family, and being with friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to LDS parents, and was raised in an active LDS home. I love this gospel, it has been a huge blessing in my life. I have been blessed to marry a returned full time LDS missionary, in the temple, and I look forward to spending eternity with him and our future children. This Church has guided me throughout my life to be the best person I can be, and has given my life purpose and meaning. Without Jesus Christ and without His true Church upon the Earth, there is no meaning to this existence. Through the Priesthood, my life has personally been blessed time and time again. My faith in Christ is what keeps me going and what inspires me every day.

How I live my faith

Right now since I am not serving in a calling at the moment, I am living my life trying to be the best member I can be. Which among many things means participating in church meetings, living the doctrine in the scriptures and taught by our leaders, trying to be like Christ as much as I can as often as I can, and helping anywhere needed when I can. Sometimes this means bringing in meals or helping people move, or cleaning the church or helping watch children for neighbors... I also spend my time taking care of my family (which currently consists of my husband but will soon include an infant as well) and spending time with extended family when I can. It's a full life, and I love it!

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

As members, we make covenants that individually we will dedicate our lives to the building up of the kingdom of God on Earth. We consecrate our lives, talents, and time to the Lord. Each of us are given callings responsibilities or jobs for which we are not paid for in which we dedicate some of our time to serve in a specific capacity in the Church. These callings do take time, and they do take resources, but they bless our lives and help us develop skills and talents--they better our lives. As we progress in the gospel, we are given all kinds of different callings, and we are continued to be blessed in our efforts and responsibilities. Show more Show less

What is a ward/stake/branch?

It's a group of LDS members living in a set geographic area who meet together for worship services, activities, and other meetings. Because our church is so big, we need to be organized into congregations based on our location, to be able to take care of each other, and the responsibilities in our church. Though we have smaller organized congregations, the Church as a whole follows the same doctrine and the same program, if you will, under the direction of our prophet currently Thomas S. Monson. We have a central hierarchy from Salt Lake City all the way to the local level that all follows the same program world wide. Show more Show less

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Prophets of ancient America wrote the Book of Mormon through generations of time between 600 BC and 500 AD. Basically, much like the Bible, the Book of Mormon is a record or journal of the happenings of the people of Nephi, who lived in America anciently. It teaches of Christ, and testifies of Him.
