Hi I'm Desiree

I'm married. I'm the mother of four children. I'm in nursing school. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was a stay-at-home mom for ten years. I love being a mom. I guess I can still consider myself a stay-at-home mom only with the addition of nursing school. I love learning. It expands my views and enriches me. Going to school with children at home has been difficult. I don't have the time and energy to study like I did in college before marriage. I am seeing the benefits. I've seen my children grow along with me as well as my husband who gladly helps at home. My children are learning to take responsibility for their education. They are understanding that there is always more to learn and excited that they know some of the things I am using in college. Education is becoming less about grades in our family and more about lifetime learning.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a latter-day saint. My testimony has grown through a pattern of activity. I remember watching an old movie about the story of Joseph Smith when I was eleven or twelve. I felt in my heart that Joseph Smith truly saw Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father. I knew that if he saw them and they spoke to him that the LDS church was organized by Jesus Christ and it was His church. I have always read the Book of Mormon and have come to know that when I do what is taught within it, I find myself in a better place and happier. I have learned when I plant a good seed and nourish it, it grows. I have learned that as I rely on Jesus Christ through prayer, I find answers in the scriptures and the way I feel inside by the Holy Ghost. When I have followed this pattern, I have learned that everything works out, I am guided to what makes me most happy, and I feel to rely heavier on the Lord knowing He will lead me to a better place. This is why I choose to be a member of His church.

How I live my faith

I am the librarian for our ward. I have been a birthday bulletin board creator, toddler nursery teacher, preschool-age Sunbeam teacher, Cub Scout Den Leader, Young Women Personal Progress leader, and pianist. I have always been a visiting teacher and visiting teachers have always been there to support me. I visit teach monthly. Our family studies scriptures daily, prays morning and night, has family home evening each week, attends church weekly to partake of the sacrament and serve and uplift others, attends the temple monthly, sometimes more as well as helps maintain the temple and church building. I work to keep peace in our home and maintain an orderly environment. I research family history. I am continuing my education. I teach my children the importance of study and learning. We listen to good music, choose good movies, are inclusive when socializing. I have organized playgroups. I enjoy being involved in the community volunteering at school, and political campaigns. We attended the first Colorado caucus. I support my husband coaching sports teams and encouraging good sportsmanship. I feed my family good food, read good books together, and talk about the Savior. I've learned through visiting teaching, my church callings, and Motherhood how much our Father in heaven loves each of us and ultimately wants us to be happy. I've learned He knows each of us personally and what we need individually.
