Hi I'm Rick

I love maps, I love to mow my lawn, I built a zip line that ends in a lake, I adore my wife and kids and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Life is good - very, very good... I am blessed to live next to a lake in the woods and have the privilege of waking up every morning hugging a woman I have been madly in love with for 26 years. I have 14 chickens, 2 golden retrievers and try to make a living teaching others to make maps (GIS) I have four beautiful and practically perfect children - due to the excellent genetics and unconditional love they received from their mother. The joy of watching my children progress and find their way in life is immeasurable. I deeply believe that life is about relationships - following the example of our Savior and unconditionally loving and serving others.

Why I am a Mormon

I was challenged during my first semester of college to read the words of Jesus Christ in the scriptures. The Sermon on the Mount changed my life. The concepts of forgiveness, compassion and unconditional love for all mankind touched my heart in deep and tangible ways. I had spiritual experiences attending a worship meeting, hearing a congregation sing and most importantly in personal prayer. I could not deny the great spiritual awakening that occurred within my soul as I learned of the Savior and committed to live his teachings. This commitment to the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been the foundation of my life.

How I live my faith

Life is good - very, very good, in spite of the challenges and heartaches that inevitably come our way. The scriptures teach that we were placed upon earth to find a deep and eternal joy. The secret to finding that joy is simple - love and serve those around you. Looking outward brings joy inward. I try and remind myself each day that I need to look outward and find a way to make someone smile or have their spirit lifted. I am inspired and motivated by the lives of others - especially the youth of our church. They courageously live the gospel of Jesus Christ in spite of amazing challenges. Mormon youth exemplify all that is good in the world today. It is a privilege and blessing to be around them on a regular basis. Smile! Life is good - very, very good.
