Hi I'm Mark

I'm about to graduate college, go into a career and end up anywhere in the world, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

Hey I'm Mark, I LOVE football, basketball and am growing to love Soccer. I spent two years in the Dominican Republic and LOVED every second of it. Did I mention I loved the D.R.? I am about to graduate from the University of Utah with my B.S. of Business Administration and I'm still currently single. Right now I am trying to get into skiing ( grew up in Utah but have never been! I am an oddity) and also trying to get into rock climbing as well. I'm not much for extreme sports, but I do it more for the exercise than anything else. Did I mention, I love video games also?

Why I am a Mormon

My dad when he was in his 20's was baptized In The Mormon church. He later met my mother and I was born. I grew up learning about the church and something central to our beliefs called "The Plan of Salvation" its the wonderful plan that God has given us through His Son Jesus Christ, it teaches us that there is a life after death and that we can be together with our families for ever. When I was about 7 or 8 years old my fathers father (my grandfather) passed away, and my parents had been with him in California for his last days on this Earth, thus I was home alone with two of my older sisters. That night that my parents called to tell us that my grandpa had passed away I was devastated, he was the first person in my life that I knew closely to mourn over his death. That night as my sisters went back to sleep I stayed up worrying about my grandpa. I was concerned I would never see the great loving man again. I remembered that night learning about the Plan of Salvation and the possibility of Eternal Families, I didn't know for sure what it meant but I knew I wanted to know if I would see my grandpa again like the plan taught me. that night as a young boy, not even a teenager yet, I knelt down and said simple prayer to our Father In Heaven, asking Him if I would see my grandfather again... To this day I can remember the sweet calm and peace that came over me as a young boy that night. I knew at that moment that God did live, that He loved me and my grandpa and that we would be together again some day. I will never forget that night as that was my first experience, the first time that I Knew with certainty that God loved me and my family, and that we would be together again some day. As I got to be a teenager I struggled, but through reading the Book of Mormon and Prayer I was strengthened and helped to be the Man I am today. I know this is the Church of Christ and great and lasting peace and happiness are found with in. I know my Savior Jesus Christ lives!

How I live my faith

I have had many lay callings (callings where I am asked to help others in the church, but do it on a strictly non-payed basis). I served as a leader for over 70 young men aged 18-31 and organized visits by these young men to others and to the women in the ward, in effort to help each other know and bare each others difficulties, trying to lift everyone up as a whole. Currently I have a calling to go out and talk to people about the church. No I am not one of the clean cut, white shirt, and backpack wearing missionaries we have serving all over the world (although I was once one of them.) I simply go out and meet people I don't know, and if they decided to come visit, I do my best to help them feel comfortable and meet people. you could say I am a greeter at church. I love this, it helps me to meet new people all the time!

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

I love this question, and get it a lot. We don't worship any man on this Earth, the only Man we worship is Jesus Christ The Lord. Joseph Smith is a man to be respected, he, only by the Hand of God Himself, was able to bring about the restoration of the Church Of Jesus Christ on the Earth again. So we respect him, but we don't pray to him or worship him in any way. Show more Show less

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

I believe the church to be the true church of Christ on the earth today. As such I believe that the spirit of God is within the church and people feel that. They want to feel the spirit of God and know of His truths . That's why I believe the church has grown so quickly. Show more Show less
