Hi I'm Enrique

I'm a husband, History student, sports enthusiast, and I am a happy Mormon.

About Me

I'm a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I am serving in the Nevada Las Vegas Mission. I come from Mesa, AZ. Before I was a missionary I had some activities I liked to do. When I was in high school, I was involved in theatre and choir. For a while, I also was involved in sports, such as football and wrestling. I really enjoy beign a missionary, and beign able to share the restored gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone I meet, every day, all day long. This is the best thing I could be doing at this time. I love it.

Why I am a Mormon

Well, I was raised in the church. My parents were Mormons when they met. I will tell why I'm still a Mormon. There came the time, after I graduated High School, that I could go on a mission. I had to know, before I spend much money and time as a missionary, if the church was true. I knew it was, at least I thought I did, but I really had to find out myself. I started reading my scriptures more often, and praying more often. I was getting impatient, because I wasn't getting an answer. Then, one day, as I was reading in the scriptures, I felt the spirit very strongly, and then I knew, I already knew it was true. The Holy Ghost has testified it to me time and time again. I remembered those times. When I was baptized and confirmed, when I recieved the Aaronic Preisthood, when I blessed the sacrament, when I was in church and in seminary, and as I had listened in General Conference to the Prophet, which was Gordon B. Hinckley when I grew up. I really felt the spirit last time I heard him testify of the restoration of the Gospel, and, most importantly, of Jesus Christ as our Saviour and Redeemer. I knew it was true, and I knew that God knew that I knew. I then decided to do everything I could to be faithfull to the church that the Holy Ghost had testified to me about that was Gods true church upon the earth.

How I live my faith

I know I'm not perfect, and I make many mistakes, but I try to do good. I try to be polite to people, pick up trash, and obey the law. With my fiance, I try my best to be respectful to her, and I try to show her how much I care by being a gentleman to her. Something my parents taught me was to be nice to others; to be of service to others. That is what Jesus did when he walked this earth as a mortal man. I try to remember him throughout the day. A lot of people say "What would Jesus do?" Personally, I think "What would I do if Heavenly Father and Jesus were watching me?" It changes the way I act, how I talk, and how I think; because I know that they are watching.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

I was a missionary for two years in Vegas. Most people there are already Christians (Catholic, Methodist, Baptist, Protestant, etc.). Having faith in Christ is essential to Christ's doctrine, and it's wonderful that these great people I met in Vegas already had that; but missionaries help add to that faith. Missionaries are called by God to preach His gospel, and to teach the Doctrine of Christ; which is what we must do in order to receive and enjoy all the blessings that Heavenly Father has for us and enjoys. That isn't the only thing that missionaries talk about. When Jesus Christ was resurrected and ascended into Heaven; He left the church He organized to the Apostles. We read about them in the New Testament in the Bible, after the four gospels. After a time, the Apostles were killed by wicked people, and the organization of Christ's church, and the authority to act in God's name, was gone from the earth. Religious confusion broke out, and there is still confusion today. The other message is that, even though Christ's church disappeared for centuries; it has been established again. That is why we talk about Joseph Smith; because through Joseph, Jesus restored his church on the earth again. Joseph Smith was a Prophet, just like Moses, that was called by God (and given authority from God to act in His name), to teach the people about Jesus Christ, and to bring an end to religious confusion. You can find out it's true by praying and asking God. That's how I know its true Show more Show less
