Hi I'm Jeffrey Hammond

I am married, podiatry student, live in Cleveland, OH and a Mormon

About Me

I am married to my dream girl and we are both in medical school. I am a podiatry student and my wife in MD school. I love sports, art, music, family and food. I also love being a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

The reason that I am a Mormon is because of the happiness it brings in to my everyday life. I wake up in the morning knowing that I have a Heavenly father that loves me and wants me to be happy. I can pray and have a personal relationship with my Heavenly Father. I live the commandments of God and I receive many blessings because of it. I know that I will live with my wife and future family forever in the true restored gospel of Jesus Christ. My faith in God allows me to comfortable with myself and who I am. I can feel the love of my Heavenly Father every day and know that I can be comfortable in my own skin. I do not have to worry about the many voices of the world telling me what to do and what is "cool". I am happy with my personality, professional goals, and my marriage because I know that I am a child of a loving Heavenly Father. I am a Mormon because I know it is true and that I can have an eternal life and family.

How I live my faith

I live my faith with great joy, happiness and peace. Me and my wife spend part of our everyday life praying to our Heavenly Father, reading the Bible and Book of Mormon, doing service and spending time together. I am very busy with school, but I live my faith with a smile and a constant search to do service for anyone I see. I am always trying to become a better person, husband and child of my Heavenly Father. In my congregation I teach a Sunday school class every couple weeks. We discuss topics of the Bible, Book of Mormon, faith, love, family, the atonement of Jesus Christ and how families can be together forever. I enjoy attending church services every Sunday with my wife to remember the Savior Jesus Christ and his sacrifice for us. While me and my wife attend medical school and find it hard to be together often, we cherish the time we have. We love one another and we know that we can live together forever as long as we follow the commandments of God. We are excited about our future careers as physicians, but also the future of having children and building a family upon the word of God. We live with faith and we know the God lives and will bless us.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Jeffrey Hammond
I do believe there is a prophet today just like there was in the bible like Moses. Prophets receive revelation from God to guide the church. Today there are new problems and it is nice to know that with a living prophet we can receive revelation just like Moses did for the followers of the church then. I still believe in the revelation received by Moses, but with a living prophet today God’s church can be on the earth and move in the direction that God wants it to move. Show more Show less

What is faith?

Jeffrey Hammond
Faith in the simplest form I think is knowing or believing something that is not seen. Faith is also knowing that Jesus Christ lives today and that through his atonement you can become clean from sins and live with him again. Faith is having a knowledge of the truthfulness of the church and that God and Jesus Christ live today. Show more Show less

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Jeffrey Hammond
I love this questions so much. I know that I have a Father in Heaven and I am blessed by it each and every day. I want you to know why I believe this and how I came to find this out. I like many people like to know that someone cares for me and is there for me. It is so nice to have that relationship with someone that cares for you. I think of my family and the love and care that they give to me. I think of my earthly father and all that he does for me, such as help out with financial situations, or support when I am trying to figure something out, or just a good person to talk too. I think we all yearn for support and love from others. The best part is that we all can have this. Our Heavenly Father is there for us always. He is there for us to go to Him when we need help or comfort. How do we do this? We pray to him in sincere prayer. When we do this we are blessed. What we ask him we can receive an answer and come to know truths in our lives such as there being a loving Heavenly Father in heaven. The scripture verse in James 15 is a good layout of what to do to find truth. Many times throughout the scriptures we hear "Ask and you shall receive." Pray and you will know as I do that we have a Heavenly Father that cares for you, me and everyone of his children on earth. Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Jeffrey Hammond
I served a mission for the church and it was on of the best things of my life. I went to Seoul Korea for two years and had to learn Korean. It was one of the hardest things I have done in my life, but it was one of the best things that ever happened to me. Everyday I was able to be a missionary and share the gospel. I struggled learning such a hard language. I wanted to share so much with the people. It was an amazing challenge in my life. The only way I was able to go to a distant land and spend every day being a missionary though was because I choose to do it. Missionary work is a choice you make as an individual. Most young men go between the ages of 19-21. We are encouraged to share the gospel through a mission just as the apostles of Jesus Christ shared the gospel to many nations. Young women, senior couples that are retired also go on missions if they desire to. Missions last 18 months to 2 years. Missionaries serve on their own money and none of them are paid. It is a sacrifice, but also a great blessing. If you ever see a missionary stop and talk to them and ask why they would leave for two years and do what they are doing. It is simply amazing experience and it only is this way because we choose to serve. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Jeffrey Hammond
We do not worship Joseph Smith. He was a prophet of God who restored the same church that was on the earth during the time of Christ through revelation from God the Father and the Jesus Christ. We worship God our eternal Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ who atoned for our sins and made eternal life possible for all. We respect Joseph Smith and see him as a great man who did many marvelous things because he was a prophet of God. Like we respect Paul the apostle of the New Testament, Moses of old, and all the prophets of the Bible we respect and honor them. Joseph Smith was a prophet just like them and because of the things he did on the earth to restore the true church we honor his great sacrifices. Show more Show less

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Jeffrey Hammond
I believe the typical Mormon life style is very similar to many peoples in the world that are religious. We attend church every week and with our families we have prayer and scripture study daily. On a personal level we have daily scripture study and we pray daily to our loving Heavenly Father. We have normal jobs that we attend. I am going to school to eventually become a doctor. We love our lives and we like to share are joy with others. Show more Show less
