Hi I'm April

I'm a wife, mother, lover of nature, and Army officer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a strong woman with a wonderful little family. I played soccer in college, married my best friend right before I graduated, and then we both enlisted in the Army National Guard. The next few years were busy with graduate school, my husband's schooling, and the blessing of a little girl joining our family. After graduate school I commissioned as an officer in the Army Reserve and my husband commissioned as an officer in the Army. We've been busy ever since!

Why I am a Mormon

Although I "grew up in the church" and always had a testimony that this church was Christ's church, it wasn't until college that I really understood what a relationship with God meant. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints teaches that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ (separate beings) love us individually and care about our lives because they want us to progress and return to them. Knowing that God is rooting for me to do well, and has provided the atonement, prophets, and the Holy Ghost to help me sort through the confusion in life is a great comfort to me. I am a Mormon because following the Gospel has brought me happiness and inner peace.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by carrying my values with me wherever I go. Whether teaching youth in church, helping with a service project, or training to give aid to those in need, I have the confidence that who I am and what I believe will influence the situation for good.

Are Mormons Christians?

Yes, Mormons are Christians. The name of our church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints; meaning that we are active disciples of Christ's church in the last period before He comes again. I believe that Jesus Christ is my Savior and my brother, and that God the Father and Jesus Christ are two separate beings. It's this teaching that sets Mormons apart from other Christians that believe in the trinity. I have a testimony that Jesus Christ is my Savior and am happy to be a Christian. Show more Show less

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

My husband and I are both in the Army and have many friends in the Army who are concerned about the answer to these questions. I know that, because of my sealing in the temple and the way I live my life, that I can be with my family after this life ends. Knowing this brings me joy and calm and helps me keep perspective on what's truly important and worth stressing over. Show more Show less
