Hi I'm Paul

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student at a local university. I am studying electrical engineering and am on a research team to try and develop a new means to detect corrosion within bridge decks. I enjoy snowboarding, basketball, digital photography, remote control airplanes, and am currently trying to teach myself to play guitar. I was given the opportunity to serve as a missionary for Jesus Christ and represent him in Argentina. Hence I have gained a deep love for the people of that country.

Why I am a Mormon

As I search the scriptures and apply the teachings of the Bible and the Book of Mormon to my life, I feel a peace and satisfaction that I haven't found anywhere else. When I pray to our Heavenly Father, I feel his love and support. He helps me and guides me through the difficult situations that are present in my everyday life. I enjoy the company of the Holy Ghost as I make correct choices. As I do this I desire to learn more about Jesus Christ, his gospel, and life and I desire more to become like him.

How I live my faith

I choose to live the gospel and commandments that I have been taught, not because of blind faith, but because of personal experiences and the joy I feel in living the standards, values, and commandments that I have been taught. I pray to my Heavenly Father and He answers my prayers. I have been given the opportunity to teach a class in our church meetings and have found that as I teach I have been given the opportunity to learn more about the gospel. I sometimes feel my eyes are opened more to the principals and doctrines of the gospel than those I teach. I know that any issue or concern I have that my Heavenly Father will guide me and teach me if I choose to humble myself in prayer and do all that is necessary in my part to make good things happen in my life and the lives of those around me.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

I came to know that The Church of Jesus Christ Mormonism is the true when I took the council that Joseph Smith found in James 1:5-6, which states: If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering, and applied this doctrine to my life. I knelt down one night at the side of my bed and asked the Lord if the things that I had been taught were true and if I should continue to follow the teachings that I had been taught. As I finished my prayer I felt a love, a burning that I had never before felt. I enjoyed this peaceful feeling of comfort, which I can attain to the to the gifts of the spirit as found in Gal 5:22-23. I knew with myself, that the things I had received were true, and that if i desired to continue to have the peace, love, and Spirit of the Lord as I had just felt that I should continue to do all in my power keep the Lord's commandments and be faithful in His church. As I have continued to follow this gospel, I have found much comfort in times of distress, and the peace that I need to continue forward in a world of much confusion and wickedness.
