Hi I'm Spencer

The past pushes me to learn. I am what I think, say and do today. Hope for the future calms my anxious heart.

About Me

I was born in California, but raised in Mesa, Arizona. While in junior high my family moved to South Korea for two and a half years where I learned to love their food. Before I started 10th grade we moved back to Mesa where I graduated high school and continued my education at ASU. On May 21, 2008 I left Arizona to serve for two years as a full-time missionary in Thailand. I learned to speak, read and write the Thai language, and I learned to love their food too. I was recently married to my wonderful sweetheart and best friend. We are excited to start a family together.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are both Mormon, and ever since I was born they have brought me to church. At first I just did what they did because I trusted them and their choices. Later, when I decided to serve as a missionary I knew that I had to know for myself that being Mormon was the right choice in my life. I read the Book of Mormon and asked God through prayer if it really was His word. After many prayers and as I continued to read the Bible and Book of Mormon I became more familiar with the Word of God and I felt peace enter into my life. As I continue to read and pray every day I can feel that peace, and I know the Book of Mormon is truly God's word. I also know that God has given prophets to lead us today. I know these prophets receive direction from God because when I listen to them speak, and follow their counsel, I feel that same peace enter into my anxious heart. I know that God loves me and all of His children. Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, and He brings peace to my soul every day.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to become more Christlike every day. Things that I do that help me achieve this goal include going to church every week, studying the scriptures, praying many times each day, pondering the questions of my soul, studying for school, serving others and visiting the Temple often with my wife. I also try to be kind to everyone I see each day. Sometimes all I can offer is a smile on my face and a positive attitude, but I have been affected by these small acts so I know that they affect others. At church I assist in watching over God's money that people donate to build up the church and help those in need. God and these people trust that their funds are accounted for and used appropriately. It is part of my responsibility to keep this money safe.
