Hi I'm Becky

I am a non-traditional student finishing up my second year of college working toward a degree in Accounting. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am a convert to the Church of 22 years. I am a wife and a mother am currently working toward a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. I grew up as a Christian Scientist, became a Jehovah's Witness in my early 20's and finally found the gospel when I was 24. I have a strong testimony of this gospel and am grateful for loving supportive friends who taught me of a loving Father in Heaven. I am grateful for the missionary program of the Church, without it I would still be looking for the gospel truths.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up all my friends were Mormons and I spent a lot of time in youth activities with them. I loved the Spirit that prevailed when I was in Church with them. But once I graduated from High School and moved on with life I drifted away and eventually became a Jehovah's Witness. It just never felt right, I felt like I was missing something. 5 years later my best friend from High School came back into my life and through her love and friendship I was reintroduced to the Church. This time I listened to the promptings of the Holy Spirit and joined. I love the gospel and Jesus Christ and feel his guiding influence in my life everyday. I am grateful for the love and patience of my friend.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday in the choices I make and talking to my friends around me. I love to teach in Church and am the humanitarian leader in the ward. This allows me to serve both in my ward and in the community.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Becky
I learned through prayer alone that Mormonism was true. I prayed about the Book of Mormon and was given a very powerful personal witness that it is Scripture translated by the power of God. Through prayer you can know the truth of these teachings. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Becky
When I first joined the Church I did not have what most would call a testimony that Joseph Smith Jr. was a Prophet of God. I did know that the Book of Mormon was true scripture, and since Joseph Smith translated that book it was logical to assume he was a prophet. However, through prayer and scripture study, I gained the testimony that God does still call men to be his mouthpiece here on earth. He loves us, he wants us to succeed in life and he has, in these latter days, chosen men to fulfill the role of prophet. I know that Thomas S. Monson is the man chosen of God to be the prophet today. I am grateful for his service to us and his willingness to serve as God has called him to do. Show more Show less
