Hi I'm Eric

Lincoln said, "Whatever you are, be a good one." I'm a husband, father, son, brother, and a Mormon and I am trying.

About Me

I am married with four kids. I am an attorney with an large international law firm. In my spare time, I cycle, surf, run, play soccer, ride dirt bikes, read, sing in a rock cover band, and most of all spend time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

Foremost, I am a Christian. As a Christian, my primary desire is to follow Christ. I believe that the Mormon church has the most correct understanding of who Christ was and is and how we can live like him and one day be with him, eternally. That is not to say that other Christian churches do not help their members to be more like Christ. I believe they do. But I also believe there is more to Christ's gospel than is taught in most churches. There is a fullness that when understood can bring one more joy than is otherwise comprehensible.

How I live my faith

I try to apply Christ's teaching in everything I do as a husband, father, brother, son, and even as a lawyer. In terms of church service (in the Mormon church, we all have a job or "calling" and we are all volunteers), I currently serve as the Stake Young Men's President. That means that I work with the young men ages 12-18 in my area helping them develop and live up to their own belief in Christ.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Eric
No. We worship only God, our heavenly father, and his son, Jesus Christ. We know that it is only through Christ that we can be saved. Like Moses, Noah, and Isaiah before him, Joseph Smith was a mouthpiece for God. And, since he lived in more recent times, initiated the restoration of the fullness of the gospel, translated the Book of Mormon, and established the church, we have a special fondness for him and understanding of him. This, however, does not rise to the level of worship. Show more Show less

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

Eric
People often use denigrating labels like that out of ignorance and fear. I have no idea why anyone would fear the Mormon church, but I do understand how they might be ignorant regarding its teachings. Fortunately, there is a simple fix. Just ask a Mormon what we believe in. We love to share and have nothing to hide. Show more Show less
