Hi I'm Astrid

I was born in the Philippines and raised in Southern California. I work in the health care industry and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

After high school, I left home to attend college, where I met and married my husband. We've lived in 3 different parts of the United States. Living away from our families has brought us closer to each other. We are in the season of our lives where our focus involves professional educational pursuits, employment, and volunteer service in our church and community. We enjoy going for walks along the paths in our neighborhood and watching movies. We also enjoy listening to and dancing to music (The dancing usually occurs in the privacy of our own home.). We both like to read and we're hoping to become parents someday soon.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because this lifestyle is a constant source of growth and refinement that strengthens my relationship with Jesus Christ. Being a Mormon helps me to feel the love He has for me and for others. I know that He wants us to be happy; and being a Mormon helps me to be happy.

How I live my faith

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I have been a teacher to children, youth and adults. I have also used my modest musical abilities to play the piano, sing and lead others in singing. In addition, I have enjoyed getting to know the women in my church as we have fellowshipped and served one another. Finally, I currently serve as a "Ward Missionary." This gives me the opportunity to support the full-time missionaries and to share my faith with those in my community.

What are some things that tell to you there is a God?

Here is a short list of blessings that helps me to know there is a God: Knowledge of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, basic necessities (food, clothing, shelter), challenges that help me improve and realize my potential, nature, good health, good friends, and lasting family relationships. Throughout my life, during the peaceful times and during times of trial, I have been able to identify at least one blessing that I am thankful for. Recognizing how I've been blessed gives me hope and helps me to know there is a God. Show more Show less

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

James 2:17-18 is a scripture in the King James Version of the New Testament which reads, "Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works." This tells the reader how they can increase their faith in Jesus Christ, by working at it. To me, working at it means daily striving to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
