Hi I'm Dave.

The Book of Mormon... read... pray... believe!

About Me

I'm just your average Joe. I love spending time with my wife and kids, playing football and basketball, and playing video games.

Why I am a Mormon

You could say that I'm a Mormon by birth, but that doesn't mean my conversion to the Church and my testimony of the Savior came automatically. I still had to find out for myself. I gained a testimony by small steps. The Book of Mormon was key to helping me get to know the Savior and understanding His sacrifice for all of Heavenly Father's children. It was through prayer that I received a confirming answer that Joseph Smith was called to be a prophet of God and that God still chooses righteous men to be his prophets on the Earth just like in ancient times. Those experiences and others have made the choice to be Mormon easy. Being a member of the true church of God has helped me understand the purpose life. I know why I'm here. I know what potential there is for me after this life. Being a Mormon makes me truly happy. The happiness I feel is an everlasting happiness that nothing else on the Earth can provide.

How I live my faith

I participate actively in the Church. I teach a class every other week on Sundays on the basic principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I also visit families in my neighborhood to make sure they are doing alright and if I can provide any needed service. Nobody makes me do these things. I do them because I want to, it's my choice. Serving in the Church blesses my life and makes me happy. I enjoy teaching my children to follow the example of the Savior. We read from the scriptures and pray together as a family.

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

Dave.
Visitors are always welcome! Please join us. Our church services last three hours and our divided up into different meetings. Sacrament Meeting- This normally last a little over an hour and is the most important meeting of the three hour block. The Bishop or one of his counselors usually directs this meeting. This meeting is for the whole family and includes singing of hymns, talks given by other members, occasionally a choir may perform a special hymn. The most important part of the meeting is the blessing and partaking of the Sacrament. Taking the Sacrament gives the opportunity to renew the promises we made to the Lord when we are baptized. Sunday School- This is divided up by age. There are classes for young children, teenagers, and adults. Sunday School last around 45 mins and each year a different book in the scriptures is studied such as Old Testament, New Testament, Book of Mormon or Doctrine and Covenants. Children also attend Primary where they learn songs and other basic and simple lessons about the gospel of Jesus Christ. Priesthood/Relief Society- The men attend Priesthood meeting and the women attend Relief Society where each are taught the same lesson but the women can discuss how it applies to them and their role in the church as do the men in their respective meeting. This meeting also last around 45 min. Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Dave.
You can find out about the truthfulness of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints through study and prayer. Moroni, an ancient prophet from the Americas, makes us a promise in the Book of Mormon that if we will read the Book of Mormon and ask God in humble and sincere prayer if these things are true, we can receive a confirming answer by way of the Holy Ghost. See Moroni chapter 10 versus 3-5 in the Book of Mormon. Show more Show less
