Hi I'm Ashley

I'm a wife, mom, graphic designer, and cook, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am a 30-year-old university graduate. I studied public relations and worked in the publicity industry for three years before I was married to my best friend, Josh, in the Salt Lake Temple. We welcomed our first child, a son, into the world about three years ago, and have never been more happy, or tired! We welcomed a daughter into the world about 1 year ago and have never been happier than with those little ones. I am the fourth of five children and have extremely close relationships with my parents and siblings. I take great interest in art, cooking, nutrition, graphic design, illustration, writing, and reading. My husband and I enjoy traveling and have, between the two of us, seen 22 different countries throughout the world. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a huge source of happiness, peace, and unity for us and our relationship.

Why I am a Mormon

I haven't had one huge amazing conversion - my conversion happened over the course of a lot of years and a lot of experiences. I've had hard experiences that have brought me closer to God, and a lot of good experiences that have also brought me closer to God. I am a Mormon because I want to be. I am a Mormon because the teachings in this church are true and I am happier when I live the teachings and commandments that are taught in this church.

How I live my faith

When I was 21, I chose to serve a Mormon mission and was called to Frankfurt, Germany. I spent 18 months teaching people in Germany about Jesus Christ and His original church which has been re-established today. Being married and having a baby now is very different from what I was used to, but I feel that it's given me so many new opportunities to meet, interact, and serve women I wouldn't have normally. Dedicating my time to my little boy is a huge act of faith for me - it requires a lot of time, love, patience, and humility, but I wouldn't give it up for anything. The time I spend in my community working with the youth is a great opportunity for me to act as a mentor and friend and share happiness and love with them. I truly believe that Jesus Christ was the perfect example of love and kindness, and I want to be His servant by sharing that love and kindness with those I come in contact with. These are all ways I live my faith!

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

I like to think of authority to baptism like this: imagine you are driving down the road and a milk man comes up behind you and is flashing his lights and honking his horn at you to pull over. You pull over and he comes to your window and tells you that you were going way to quickly, so he gives you a ticket and tells you to pay him. Are you going to pay him? No. He isn't a police officer, is he? No - he doesn't have the authority to give you a ticket. On the other hand, if you're driving down the road and a police officer pulls you over and gives you a ticket, are you going to accept the ticket? Yes. He truly does have the authority to give you that ticket. So it is with baptism. A baptism is not fulfilled without the correct authority - that authority is found in the Mormon church. I am so grateful for that authority because it is the authority and power to act in God's name, here on the earth. God has given men that power and authority and trusts they will use it well. What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is not a novel or a history book. Simply put, it is another book, or testament, that testifies or gives testimony of Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus Christ was sent to earth to establish His church, which He did. We find those true accounts in the New Testament – Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. We believe that prophets have testified of Jesus Christ from the beginning of the world. They testified that Jesus Christ would come to the earth, then when He did, prophets testified that He was on the earth. After His death, prophets testified that He would come again. The Book of Mormon does just that – it is a compilation of testimonies from prophets who testified that Jesus Christ would come into the world, He did, and He will come again. These are different prophets from the Old and New Testaments. However, there are prophets in the Book of Mormon who quote Old Testament prophets. The Bible and the Book of Mormon go hand in hand – the Book of Mormon gives us a better understand of the Bible. For me, the Book of Mormon is a comfort. It was written with the express purpose to help us strengthen our testimonies of Jesus Christ and to gain a personal relationship with Him and with our Father in Heaven. I love the Book of Mormon – I know it is true! Show more Show less
