Hi I'm Jerry

I'm a Mormon. I joined the church later in life and am sorry it took so long for me to see the light

About Me

I am a 74 year old retiree who enjoys life generally and my family in particular. I try to live my life by being a good example to others.

Why I am a Mormon

I was first given the opportunity to become a Mormon back in 1960 right after I married a great gal who was raised in the church. However, I chose not to join for reasons that still amaze me. 28 years later I finally decided to become a member of the church. I took the time to really explore what the Gospel is and to open my heart to accept the fact that I am a child of God and He really wants me to return to His presence one day. He has already done His part by restoring the Gospel just like it was when Christ was on the earth. All I had to do was humble myself and open my heart to feel and hear the Holy Ghost when he spoke to me. I had to have faith to know this was the true church on the earth today and to be lead and directed to all the wonderful blessings available to those who invite Jesus Christ into their lives.

How I live my faith

When I joined the church in 1989 I made a very basic decision after accepting Jesus Christ as my Savior and being baptized. I wanted to be fully involved with the Gospel rather than just show up on Sunday and I have tried to live up to that commitment ever since. Attending Sacrament meeting every Sunday is the highlight of the week. It is when I renew the covenants I made when I was baptized and ask for forgiveness for the transgressions I made that week. I also promise that I will try harder to live the Gospel more fully in the week to come. I have participated in the community by working on fund raising activities of the American Cancer Society.

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Jesus Christ is the only person who was on the earth who never sinned. All the rest of us have sinned to one degree or another. It took a perfect person to atone for our sins and Jesus was the only one who could do that. As important were his personal message and ministry, they were secondary to his mission, the atoning sacrifice. Show more Show less
