Hi I'm Jennifer

I'm a Mormon, a mom, a student, a sister, a daughter, and a child of God.

About Me

I have been a member of the church since birth, but I haven't always been an active member. My hobbies....hmmmm? Well.....I can beat my son's friends on the Xbox. Is that a hobby or an accomplishment? Either way it's pretty cool. I love hanging out with my friends. Movies and food are our thing. I am a single mom of two really great kids. I work full time at a community health center. I am a supervisor of the Patient Assistance Office. I oversee staff in that office and help low income patients get the health care and medication that they cannot afford. I am a part time student. I am persuing my Associates Degree in Medical Reimbursement Technology. I have two dogs. One is a standard poodle and no, he is not feminine! He's great! The other is a mixed breed that we got from some good friends at church who just couldn't keep her anymore. I am active in our ward. I am a primary teacher and an Achievement Day Leader. I have a hard time keeping up with everything sometimes and I kind of fade into the background. Then I find myself miserable again and off to church I go!

Why I am a Mormon

Well, like I said I have been a member since I was 8, but I didn't remain active all the time. I decided that my children really needed to have some structure in their lives. I have been to other churches and I have felt the spirit there, but I have also felt like there was something missing. So, I headed back to my church and I just knew that this is where I needed to be. It feels right. I know that Heavenly Father would not just leave us on Earth without the true guideance that he began in his time. I know that prophets are on the Earth today and that the Lord speaks to us through our church leaders. I don't always like what they have to say, but that is part of our human nature. Men are men. They make mistakes. Heavenly Father is there to guide you through those mistakes and let you learn the valuable life lessons he has in store for you. The blessings that you receive from following his example are more than any material thing you would ever need in life.

How I live my faith

As I said before, I am a Primary teacher and an Acheivement Day Leader. I am not the best at Visiting Teaching, but I have tried really hard the past two months. I do pray with my kids every evening and try to read stories or scriptures sometimes. Most of our friends are members of the church and we totally enjoy hanging out with them playing games or watching movies.

What is done with the tithing that Mormons pay?

Jennifer
Well, the tithing that is paid by members is used to keep the lights on and pay the utility bills for all the different LDS buildings across the world. None of our officials are paid. They all live like the rest of us. Working every day and doing church activities in the evenings and through the week. There are other funds that we pay into to help feed the missionaries and provide them with necessities. We also pay into another fund to help members of the church when they are having financial hardship. We try our very best to help where help is needed no matter if you are a member or not.
