Hi I'm Debi Richan.

I'm a daughter, a sister, a wife and a mother. I'm a storyteller and a working actress. I'm a joyful Mormon!

About Me

I'm a mother of 4 grown daughters and a grandmother of 4--two boys and two girls. I've been happily married for 38 years, and my husband and I enjoy traveling, all kinds of music, reading and each other. I am an avid quilter, a knitter, and for 25 years, a working storyteller. I perform at festivals, schools, libraries, business meetings, conferences and universities to listeners from pre-school to care centers.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it makes sense. The plan of happiness--a pattern for successful and joyful living--speaks reason to my heart. Through the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints--the Mormons--I have been able to learn from personal tragedy, have hope in hardship, and faith in the future. My personal relationships--while never perfect--are rewarding and fulfilling because my personal relationship with my Savior, Jesus Christ, is my primary focus. He guides me, protects me, and lifts me up. I am a Mormon because, simply, the teachings are true--and in a crazy world it is good to know what is true and you can really count on!

How I live my faith

I live my faith because my faith is my life. I volunteer actively in my community 20 hours a week--at least--usually more as does my husband, even though he also works at his full-time job. I work at schools, in community efforts, doing humanitarian work mostly making blankets and knitting baby booties. I worked taught youth exclusively for about 30 years--music, storytelling, religious lessons.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Debi Richan.
Absolutely, yes! We use the King's James version, primarily translated by William Tyndale. He's a personal hero of mine. Since I am a fully committed Christian, and believe in Jesus Christ as my personal Savior, the Bible is fundamentally important to me and I have spent many hours studying the teachings of it, and try daily to live by the principles therein. I love the stories of the Bible--Old and New Testament--and treasure what I have learned through prayer and study. Show more Show less
