Hi I'm Jody

I'm a paralegal, a single mother of 6 and grandmother of 18, a newlywed, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a paralegal, director of musical theater, formerly a single mom of 6 children, grandmother now of 21, have owned my own business and would love to own or run a small restaurant with my husband, have a passion for music and the arts, enjoy the outdoors - especially the beach - love to travel, and recently remarried to the man of my dreams. Although after all these years in the legal field it may seem that there is little justice in this world, my faith gives me strength to know that justice is not always here and now, but I trust in the Lord for all justice. When things seem darkest, my hope in the reality of my Savior and friend, Jesus Christ, always brings the light. My relationships with my family and friends, and all those with whom I come in contact, are the things I cherish most, and it brings me great comfort to know they can last forever. Finding the love of my life at this stage of my life was an unexpected yet welcomed surprise. Having been raised in the Jewish faith, he has brought such a wealth of understanding as we have blended our faiths into one, and I have learned to appreciate the foundation he brings to our marriage. Our varied experiences in life have made us who we are today, and together we find the joy in service to others by using what we've learned through those experiences, realizing that life has really just begun for us. I'm a paralegal, a wife, a mother and grandmother, and I'm a Mormon!

Why I am a Mormon

Having been raised in the Church in the Southern California area, my father and mother were very involved in service to our community and Church. I grew up with strong values that helped me as I became an adult with my own children and now grandchildren. Raising my children as a single mother was the most difficult thing I could have imagined, and those childhood values kept me filled with hope and strengthened me when that hope seemed to dwindle. I recently remarried to a wonderful man after we met while I was serving as a Missionary. He later converted to the Church, having finally found the faith he had been searching for all his life. We have a life filled with peace and joy in the service of our friends and neighbors, and know that in following the example of Jesus Christ we can continue to enjoy that peace and joy in a world filled with opposition. I love my Savior, and find each day is a new miracle of life and learning to become more like Him.  In this world filled with uncertainty, hate, selfishness and challenges within our families and community, it can be easy to loose faith in mankind. Because of my faith and believing in the example of Jesus Christ, I find certainty within that faith, love towards and from those with whom I associate, unselfish service from people I may have never met and opportunities to return that service with charity and love. While the world may be in chaos and our freedoms challenged by those who are either afraid of our values or offended at our strengths and confidence in a loving God, there is a peace in knowing that even through the persecutions that may come, mankind is basically good as they come to understand that they are children of that same loving God, and we are all brothers and sisters learning how to love each other better. That knowledge helps me view my challenges as opportunities for growth and learning.

How I live my faith

While serving as the president in our Church's organization of women from all walks of life, I not only found healing from my own life's challenges, but found that those very challenges were hand fashioned to give me the knowledge and experience with which to serve in the ways these women needed most. I've learned that our most important role in life is to love each other, no matter where we may be in our journey. What great blessings await us as we work together to bring peace in our homes, our communities, and hopefully one day, the entire world.

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

I don't know what my life or that of my children would have been like had we not had the love and support of the amazing Church family that surrounded us as a single parent family. We felt the love of the Savior even during the darkest hours because each of us individually and collectively was taught, loved, and given the attention of others who had our same faith in Jesus Christ. Now as parents with children of their own, these amazing children of mine continue to teach and serve in their respective Church families and communities, giving back a little of what we all received during those years when so many other choices could have been made to lead each of them in different paths. Although my first marriage was unsuccessful, I always knew that the Lord loved me and those difficult years prepared me to learn to love the unexpected man of my dreams a little later in life. We now find our respective life experiences have made us who we are today, and find a greater hope and faith in Jesus Christ as we enter our golden years together. Show more Show less
