Hi I'm Al
I'm a big guy who loves music. I am a self proclaimed geek when it comes to all humanities, and I love to learn. I look to teach in the future, either in religious or musical fields. After my mission I will resume college as a Vocal Performance student. I'm also a competitive yo-yo player. :)
Why I am a Mormon
I am a Mormon first and foremost because I know that Jesus Christ is the living savior, and that he is my personal advocate. I know this not only because of what I read in the Bible, but because I know by the power of the Holy Ghost that the Book of Mormon is true. It is a powerful witness to the world that Jesus Christ is the son of God, and that through him all men may be saved through faith on his name. I also know by the same power that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, and that through him, Christ's Church, the same that he established during his ministry, has been restored. Because of this I know that God loves us the same today as he did then, and that he is the same yesterday, today and forever. President Monson is a Prophet of God. I know I'm sounding repetitive, but it is my witness to the world that he is, and I have come to this knowledge by the power of the Holy Ghost. If we really want to know, and we have pure intentions when we ask God for truth with faith in Christ, we will know what is right by the power of the Holy Ghost. This is what has happened for me, and I know it can happen for everyone. If God will answer a prayer coming from someone as flawed as myself, surely he will work with all that will come to him through prayer and faith.
Can you talk about the missions of the Church and your participation in them?
Personally, I've chosen to serve a mission because of how much God has done for me. There are many people who don't have the privilidge of knowing the things that I know about God and his son, and the Restoration, and it's the least that I can do to share them with the rest of God's children. So... I suppose I went on a mission out of gratitude. We are asked to go because what we've been given is so important. But I wasn't forced, it was my decision, and I chose to do it. And my life, and the lives of countless others have been made better because of it.
What are you doing to help strengthen your family and make it successful?
I pray for them daily, and I work to be a peace maker by putting what is right ahead of what is personally convenient.
How has the Holy Ghost helped you?
How hasn't the Holy Ghost helped me!? I think that would be a shorter list. It's kind of like having a best friend that will always be there to help you, to lift and support and encourage you. I think of my best friends throughout the course of my life, and as odd as it sounds, the Holy Ghost would probably be at the top. There's a promise in the Book of Mormon, that says that "If ye shall enter in by the way and receive the Holy Ghost, it will show unto you all things that ye should do." That's on page 115, verse 5. And it's true. As long as I do what God would want me to do, he's there every step of the way, so that I never have to be alone. I can't think of a better blessing I've been given.
How I live my faith
I live my faith by following Christ and loving him. I seek to love others as he loves me.
