Hi I'm Benson

I'm a husband & father, business strategist, innovator, entrepreneur, a lifelong learner native to Mesa, AZ, USA and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I have a business degree in Management, Entrepreneurship, and International Business from Arizona State University. At the beginning of my career, I was a winner in a very competitive entrepreneurship competition. I was awarded a business grant to start up an innovative venture and haven't lost the entrepreneurial bug since. I've become quite the business and innovation junkie. I have enjoyed serving in various capacities in my ward, however it seems I have mostly worked with the youth in various scouting positions including Den Leader, Cub Master, and Scoutmaster. I enjoy anything outdoors (camping, fishing, mountain biking, climbing, rappelling, etc.). I also play the guitar and skateboard. I like to watch movies and TV series and can enjoy an occasional book as long as it's good. My wife Sarah and I were married and sealed in July of 2008 in the Mesa, AZ temple. We have a home in Mesa and enjoy re-modeling and fixing it up. There is always a new project. We have two little girls, Abigail and Harper. We are constantly learning and striving to progress both individually and as a family in the gospel and in the Church.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was a teenager, I had a very serious conversation with my bishop about whether or not I believed all of the things that my parents had been teaching me for so long about the Church. I decided at that time that I needed to find out for myself whether or not the Book of Mormon was the word of God and whether or not Joseph Smith was his prophet. I spent the next six months to a year reading and praying for an answer to my questions about the truthfulness of the restored gospel. In another conversation with my bishop later that year, I found myself bearing strong testimony of the truth of these things and how I had a knowledge of it, which was something that I had never done before. To be honest it caught me off guard to hear myself saying those things. The Spirit of the Lord witnessed to me at that time that the words that I was saying were true, and letting me know that this was a true and pure testimony of Jesus Christ as our Savior, of the Book of Mormom, of living prophets, and of the Plan of Salvation. Since then I have worked hard to continue to build my testimony and serve the Lord in whatever capacity he requires of me. While I am not perfect and falter at times, I know that as I strive to become more like my savior, he makes up the difference. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving in my home ward and by helping others as much as possible. I now teach gospel lessons in my Elders Quorum but was recently released as the Scoutmaster where I organized weekly activities and camping trips to help young men increase their faith and testimony in their Lord and Savior and to help them to build personal character. I continue to seek to help them to understand the importance of service to others and how in doing so they can become more like Jesus Christ.
