Hi I'm Aubry

I'm just starting college!

About Me

I just graduated from high school, so I'm heading off to college this Fall to be a Dance Education major. I love dance! It's my greatest passion in life other than the gospel. I love seeing how even something like dance can relate to the gospel and my spiritual life in general. I have 5 siblings, one brother-in-law, and an adorable nephew. I enjoy listening to all kinds of music, and I love food! :

Why I am a Mormon

My family has been members of the church for generations, so I was born into the gospel. I am so grateful for that blessing because the gospel makes me soooooo happy! Even when I'm facing tough times--like the upcoming move to college I mentioned in the previous section--I know I can get through it. The gospel brings me a lot of comfort in knowing that no matter what I'm facing, I can find peace and be successful in life with God's help.

How I live my faith

As a Mormon, I believe that my actions should be consistent throughout the week. In other words, I do my best to continue living my faith even when it's not Sunday. I try to be honest and kind, serve others, dress modestly, and use appropriate language. Service is a big part of being a Mormon, whether it's just helping out at church or visiting a neighbor.

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

We believe that we are God's children, so naturally we should look like Him. We believe He has a body of flesh and bones and that as our Father, he can love us perfectly because he has emotions too. We also believe that we can pray to Him at any time about anything going on in our lives. For me, it is through prayer that I have truly gotten to know God. I feel His love for me and know that He cares about even the smallest, most insignificant details of my life because He's perfect. I also know that He loves us because He sent Jesus Christ to die for us so we could return to live with Him again. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No, we only worship God. We respect Joseph Smith as a great, inspired man who served God to restore Christ's church to the earth however, we do not worship him. He was a prophet, not Deity. Just as the children of Israel did not worship Moses, we do not worship prophets we honor their words because they help us become closer to God. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Absolutely! I believe that God loves us and is just as interested in our lives as He was in the days of Moses. Since I believe that's true, I also believe that He would want to provide us with a prophet to help us know how to live righteously and return to live with God. Show more Show less

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Definitely not! Our religion is based on service. We send out thousands of missionaries worldwide to not only preach the gospel, but serve the people of the world. My own grandparents served a humanitarian mission in Russia where they helped many orphanages and other institutions get needed supplies. My other grandparents served in Vietnam where they only taught English and weren't even allowed to teach about our religion. Outside of missions, members of the church all over the world perform service in their daily lives for all of God's children--not just Mormons. Show more Show less
