Hi I'm Josh Steimle

Author, entrepreneur, speaker, writer (Mashable, TechCrunch, Forbes, more), husband, dad, ultra trail runner, skater, Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Southern California but moved to Utah in 1998 to go to school at BYU. While there l started an Internet marketing firm and stayed for 14 years. In June, 2013 I moved my family to Hong Kong, and then in 2016 we moved to Shenzhen, China. My wife and I met while at college, and we have two children; a girl born in 2008 whom we adopted, and a boy who was born to us in 2010. My wife and I both earned master's degrees from Brigham Young University, she in Marriage, Family, and Human Development, and I in Information Systems Management. My wife is a full-time mother. I'm a partner at a digital marketing agency called MWI, and run a publishing, training, and events company called Influencer Inc. We home school our children. While living here in China we plan to adopt another child. In fact, this is why we moved to Asia. I do triathlons and ultra trail running, I skateboard, snowboard, read a lot (business, politics, history, economics, etc.), write a lot (over 300 articles for Fortune, Fast Company, Forbes, Mashable, TechCrunch, Entrepreneur, and other business publications), and in a few years will return to school to get a PhD in business strategy with a focus on entrepreneurship and public policy.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the LDS Church, but virtually every day I have to remake the decision to be an active member. I remain an active member because living my life the way the Church teaches makes me happy, and because I know being an active member of this religion is what God wants me to do.

How I live my faith

"Living my faith" means being honest in my business practices, teaching my kids about Jesus Christ, being a good husband, and sharing what I believe with others. Perhaps above everything else, living my faith means helping others reach their full potential. There's nothing that frustrates me more than wasted potential, and nothing that brings me more happiness than seeing others progress and achieve great things.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Josh Steimle
Mormons believe the Bible is the word of God. We are studying the Old Testament in Sunday School right now, and I've been enjoying learning once again about all the ancient prophets and their teachings. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Josh Steimle
We worship God, our Heavenly Father, and his Son, Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith is a prophet, a messenger, a spokesman, and so to me he is like Abraham, Moses, or Peter. I look to Joseph Smith's teachings for clarification on how to live my religion, but if he were alive today he and I would both worship God and our Savior, Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
