Hi I'm Kristel Marie

I'm a Nurse, a Singer, a Temple Square Missionary and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a graduate with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing last April 11,2010 at one of the prestigious medical schools in the country. I love to sing and dance and participate in any kind of activity as long as it is spiritually and morally uplifting for my personal growth and development. I'm a jolly person as some may say. Not really full of knowledge but is able to answer questions that she knows the answer to. I like movies. I love attending the church choir. I love reading books and learning different languages.

Why I am a Mormon

Both my parents were members of the Church when I was young. My mom was baptized when she was 11 years old and my father was baptized at the age of 22. They were married in the Manila Philippines Temple on the 9th day of June, year 1989. I grew up in a Latter-day Saint environment. I was baptized at the age of 8 on May 23, 1998 and was confirmed the day after, thus making me an official member of the Church. I know that the Lord loves me and that God loves me. I know that even though we are not perfect, we can be perfected in Christ's Atonement and we can repent of our mistakes. I know that we are never alone in whatever trials we face in life.

How I live my faith

I am currently the Stake Single Adults Representative of the Cebu Philippines Central Stake. I have the strongest desire to go and serve a full-time mission someday. I am currently assigned as the first Sunday School teacher in our ward's organization for women ages 18 and up, tackling on the Visiting Teaching of the month. During my youth days, I was called as president on one of our young women classes. I try as much as possible to read the scriptures daily, not just for my own benefit but for my family and friends as well. I am currently a full-time missionary serving in the Utah Salt Lake City Temple Square Mission. I have served my Outbound Mission for 3 months in the Georgia Atlanta North Mission (Loganville - Monroe and Athens area).

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Kristel Marie
The Atonement of Jesus Christ is when the Savior suffered for the sins of the world as He prayed for us in the Garden of Gethsemane. Such was His persecution by the people of His time that He died on the cross and suffered so much pain, more than anyone could comprehend. It was necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life so that we can go back to His presence by having faith in Him, repenting of our sins, be baptized and confirmed in His church by someone who is authorized to do so, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost and strive to keep His commandments and serve Him until the end. It is through His Atonement that we strive to live according to His gospel and through the will of our Father in Heaven. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

Kristel Marie
"We believe in God, the eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost." (Article of Faith 1:1). From that statement alone, we Latter-day Saints (Mormons) are Christians. We believe in the teachings of Christ, we believe that He is our Savior and Redeemer whose atoning sacrifice has given us the opportunity to be back in the presence of our loving Father in Heaven through repentance and resurrection. We strive to follow His example. We pray and worship in His name. "He is the center of our faith, and the head of our Church" (Gordon B. Hinckley). Show more Show less
