Hi I'm Chris
I live in Utah. I am a husband. A father. A son. A brother. A friend. A gamer. A reader. A writer. I am a Mormon.
I live in the Greater Salt Lake area. I have a fabulous wife and 3 amazing children. I studied English at the University of Utah (Go Utes!) and want to eventually teach High School English. I have worked for the past dozen+ years in the computer industry on projects ranging from data management to video games to business and consumer web applications. I love board games and reading and have a big collection of both books and board games and I'm an active member of boardgamegeek and goodreads. I also enjoy video games and love playing the LEGO games with my kids. I love creative writing and have a number of short stories and one semi-finished novel length work. I love hanging out with my family at home, on quick adventures close to home or on large adventures on vacation.
Why I am a Mormon
I love the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have a deep and personal knowledge of the love of Jesus Christ and my Heavenly Father. I know that they know me personally and that they love me and are concerned for me. I have felt their love and guidance in many aspects of my life. I am so grateful to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and to know that we are guided and directed by living Prophets, Apostles and Leaders. It is such a blessing and a relief to know that God is actively communicating with us and that He has provided a plan for us to return to live with Him someday. I am thankful for the Temple in my life and for the wonderful blessings and knowledge it brings. I am so grateful to know that through the blessings of the Temple I am sealed for all eternity to my wife and family members and that we will be together after this life on Earth. I love reading the scriptures both alone and with my family. I love the messages of the Bible, the Book of Mormon and of the modern scriptures revealed to Prophets in more recent times. I love watching my children learn and grow in their own knowledge of the gospel. I am grateful to my Heavenly Father for all the many wonderful blessings in my life. I am so thankful to be a member of this church. I know without a doubt that this church is true. I know that Joseph Smith was an inspired prophet and that through that inspiration and guidance he restored God's true church to the Earth. I know that through the power and revelation of our Heavenly Father, he translated the Book of Mormon. I know that the Book of Mormon is a true and inspired book of scripture. I know that we are led today by a living prophet who speaks to us as the servant of God and directs us in the things He would have us do. I know that Jesus Christ lived, suffered, died and was resurrected for us so that we can be saved and return to Him.
How I live my faith
I love opportunities to serve within the church community. I am currently serving as an advisor over our young men group (aged 12-18 with my focus being on the 12-14 year olds). We have wonderful boys and I look forward to helping them grow and learn both in terms of how to relate to the world around them through the Boy Scout program but especially with regards to their relationship to our Savior Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father. We have a great neighborhood and there are always opportunities to help our neighbors even with something as simple as sitting and chatting with them for a bit. I love living so close to a Latter Day Saint Temple that I can attend frequently. I love feeling the spirit and love of my Heavenly Father as I go and worship in His house. Before I was married, I served as a missionary in Central America. My wife and I look forward to serving a church mission together once our children are grown.
