Hi I'm Jorose

I grew up in Whangarei. I have been married for 9 years and I'm a mother of six.

About Me

I have been married for 9 years to my wonderful husband and we have 6 beautiful children. I love spending time with my family and enjoy the moments we share together. I also enjoy singing with my friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a convert to the church. I joined the church when I was 19. My mum had invited the missionaries to give her discussions. I had no interest at all of joining and my friends and I even ridiculed my mum for having these 'strange' guys come over. One night I decided to give the missionaries a chance to teach me. I had a discussion with them and had so many questions that they were teaching me for hours. By the time they left I KNEW that this was the missing link I had been looking for in my life. I prayed about the Book of Mormon and about Joseph Smith and felt the spirit testify to me that He was a prophet of God and that the Book of Mormon was the true word of God. I was baptized 2 weeks later and have never looked back. I met my husband after I had been a member for 6 months. We dated and were married in the NZ Temple one year after my baptism.

How I live my faith

In our ward at church I serve by looking after the sisters within our congregation. We are a sisterhood, and help one another with all things. We visit the sick and we help each other in times of need. We also help people in the community by doing meals on wheels and visiting rest homes to sing songs and share in their companionship. Being a Mormon to me, is just a part of who I am.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

No, I know personally that we are willing to help anyone. If you think about anytime a missionary has knocked on your door and asked before they left if there 'was anything they could do for you?' They really do mean it and so do we as members. Show more Show less

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Mormon women are like most women. We serve our family and friends, we serve in the community and we love those around us. We value our role as mothers and wives. As women we have our roles, as well as the men, they are different but just as important as the other. Show more Show less

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Simply by getting to know Him. It is like building a relationship with anyone. You have to know what they are like, we can do this by reading about Him in the scriptures and then trying to walk in His footsteps. Show more Show less
