Hi I'm Maia

I am a writer, an artist, a sister, daughter and friend. I joined the Church in 2006, and I am proud to be a Mormon!

About Me

I would love to have my own classroom as a high school English teacher! I love to write, and I love scrapbooking, but mostly I love life! I am looking forward to whatever God has in store for me. The best and most important thing that has happened to me is joining the Church and finally being given the tools to be able to return safely to my Father In Heaven!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I received an answer from God that this Church is true, that Joseph Smith was and will always be a prophet of God, and that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I am a Mormon because, of all the churches I ever attended in my life, this church is the only one that could answer all of my questions, and it continues to answer my questions. I am a Mormon because the Holy Spirit testified and continues to testify to me of the truthfulness of this Restored Gospel.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by realizing everyday that I have so much more to learn, and that I am striving to be perfected in Christ and stand worthily before him at the appointed time. By realizing this, I am motivated to pray, read my scriptures, attend to my church callings with all due diligence, study, and basically do all that I can to honor my role as a daughter of Deity.

Who founded Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

To quote our textbook, Church History in the Fulness of Times, "At the appointed hour on April 6, 1830, close to sixty people assembled to witness the organization of the Church of Jesus Christ...The meeting was simple. Joseph Smith...called the group to order and designated five associates-Oliver Cowdery, Hyrum Smith, Peter Whitmer, Jr., Samuel H. Smith, and David Whitmer-to join him to meet New york's legal requirements for incorporating a religious society." Show more Show less

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

Wow. Perhaps by following what is said in Mosiah 18:9: "...stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places that ye may be in..." If you are in a movie theater and something sexually inappropriate comes on the screen, walk out and ask for your money back. If someone near you is speaking suggestively to another or having an inappropriate conversation, ask them to stop. Teach your children, your neices and nephews, your grandchildren about the inappropriateness of pornography and the importance of chastity. Pray. Show more Show less

What is being a Mormon like?

Being a member of the Church is, for me, finally having the tools (a living prophet, modern-day revelation, full knowledge of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, priesthood authority) to become my best-self, which I had been striving for my entire life! Being a member is a privilege and a gift, never a burden, no matter how much opposition is out there. Being a member is a sacred obligation to yourself and your posterity, not to be taken lightly.
