Hi I'm Melissa

I grew up in Florida. I am a soon-to-be law student, and I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

About Me

I enjoy swimming, learning and trying new things, laughing, listening to music, and playing it as I can. I am interested in all kinds of things, including but not limited to: the arts, art history, world culture, clean humor, and kid's movies. I'm a recent college graduate with a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology. I am a convert to the church, a daughter, a friend, and a big sister. I've gone through difficult times in my life including the divorce of my parents during my teenage years as well as the deaths of loved ones at various times in my life. I find my happiness in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the Gospel gives my life direction. Knowing where I came from and where I can go helps me to make everyday decisions that bring me closer to my Heavenly Father and His son, Jesus Christ. I was baptized at the age of fourteen, and have not looked back since. Living the Gospel is not always easy, but I know that maintaining my standards are essential to my happiness.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending church meetings, studying the scriptures, serving others, and through prayer. As part of my calling, I organize church activities for the young single adults to encourage fellowship and fun with other members.

How are modesty and chastity related? How can parents teach their children to be modest in dress, language and behavior?

Modesty does not only include the way that we dress, but also the way that we act. Modesty is something that applies to everyone, male and female, no matter what their age is. A modest attitude leads to modest dress and behavior. Modest dress and behavior helps us, as children of God, to respect others' bodies as well as our own. This respect for our bodies helps us to obey the law of chastity. The law of chastity means to reserve physical intimacy and the emotions that go along with it for the appropriate time: the sacred bond of marriage between a man and a woman. Children need to understand that by their modest dress, language, and behavior, they help themselves and others to keep the law of chastity. Keeping this important commandment allows us to have the Holy Ghost with us. Show more Show less
