Hi I'm Kenrick

I'm originally from Trinidad and Tobago. I'm a Latter-day Saint.

About Me

I am a people person, I love people and all their diversities. To me man is the most complex creation and I love getting to know them. It does not matter what I do with friends, as long as there are at least four or more, I know I'm going to have a good time. I live in a big city so there is lots to do.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up Christian but was never fully satisfied with what I was taught. I always knew there was more knowledge to be had. On moving to the US I committed to changing my life to be more spiritual. As I entered college I had the option of joining one of the many clubs on campus. I decided to check out the religious clubs. I was flabbergasted to find two pages of religion clubs alone. To say the least I was overwhelmed and passed on the opportunity. I did my own search by visiting other Churches as I was given handouts as I passed by people on the street or approached by them. All the while I was still attending my old Church praying to find the Truth. After praying one night it was as if I knew the Truth would be brought by two people. Shortly thereafter I was watching TV and an ad for the Book of Mormon was shown. At the point of the commercial that talked of Christ in America my interest was peaked. I had NEVER heard of that ever so straightway was fully engrossed in the remainder of the ad. The book was free, it was an 800 number to call, and expressed that there was no obligation to receiving the book. I was sold. It would not be for another four months before getting the book but I would learn that the commercial created so many referrals (approx. 1,500) that it was time consuming for the Missionaries to deliver that many book expeditiously. I read the book in 2 weeks as a historical novel because being from the Caribbean the two main peoples spoken of in the book related to two of the peoples of the Caribbean. It was an easy read and to use the coined phrase: "The rest is history." I've been a member now for the last 20 years. It wasn't exactly smooth sailing but it has and continues to be a fantastic ride.

How I live my faith

I have three Church callings (volunteer responsibilities), I visit 3 of the families in my ward (congregation) to be their friend, to help them out doing what I can if they may need something, a baby-sitter etc. I also lead the music, like a conductor, when we sing hymns. On a Stake (an area comprising a few wards, in my case 9) level I participate in one of the Public Affairs committees.

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

Kenrick
We can change our outlook on sexual relations between a man and a woman by viewing it as something sacred and divine. After all it is the creative process of the creation of human life, the most important of all life on the Earth. Once we remove our base thoughts and disregard of sexual relations and realize its importance in society we can as a people stop pornography. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

Kenrick
We sure are, since we belong to The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints. We strive to live our lives after His. The Book of Mormon teaches of Him and serves as a guide for us, in which to pattern our lives. Show more Show less

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

Kenrick
When one is searching for Truth, having a true desire to know what is right, the Spirit helps them to find it. As people come across the LDS Church they can feel something here that is familiar but stronger. As they investigate and learn more about the Church, they come to find, through the help of the Spirit, the peace and know that Christ is the head of this Church, that it is His, the one He authorized the men He has called to act on His behalf. This attributes to the growth. Show more Show less
