Hi I'm Jan

I have lived in Utah all of my life! I have 5 children with 5 spouses and 16 grandchildren. My family is everything! I'm a Mormon

About Me

I love being with my family! Anything we can do together makes me so happy! They are my joy in life! We love being outdoors together or playing games indoors, Sunday dinners and birthdays are such a delight as well. My husband and I love walking and enjoying God's beautiful world. I love to quilt, when I have time, and love to read. I love to cook and try new recipes. I enjoy friends and neighbors and doing little things for them. I graduated in school as a Physical Therapist, but soon found that being a mom full time worked best for me. I love to learn, and have learned much from my children and grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the gospel of Jesus Christ! I feel that I have had faith since I was very young. Although my father had been baptized a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he had not attended since his boyhood days. My mother had been in the baptist faith. My parents wanted their children to have some sort of religious upbringing and living in Utah, The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was near and attended by others in our neighborhood. They dropped myself and siblings off to enjoy the children's programs and soon, people at the church took us under their wings. They offered to get us to church not only to the children's meetings but on Sundays as well to the Sacrament worship service. I will never forget being baptized by my neighbor at the Salt Lake Tabernacle. It was an amazing and sweet experience. Receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost the next day in church was remarkable! I knew then, as I know now, that Jesus is the Christ, He is our Savior and Redeemer and Creator and Advocate. I love Him. I love how the Gospel of Jesus Christ is simple and clear. I love knowing that families can be together forever and I love knowing that those who have passed away without the gospel, will be given the opportunity to learn and grow. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and restored the Gospel to the earth. I am grateful for the Book of Mormon, written and stored up by ancient prophets on the American Continent. I am grateful that Joseph Smith had the faith to translate it for us. I am a Mormon because I believe it is a true and good way to live and it also offers me the gift, because of the Atonement, to return to my Heavenly Father and Savior and family after this time on earth is finished. The gospel is a message of peace and joy and love and eternal life. The gospel is a great blessing to me and my family.

How I live my faith

I have been active in local PTA when my children were young and in school. I have helped with voting in my area. I very much enjoyed working for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. I have taught special needs individuals in a church youth educational setting, they could spend an hour during the school day with some of us. I love working with the youth, which I have done many years in my local church unit. They are so full of hope and joy! I have loved serving neighbors and friends when they have needed help in their home during an illness or a ride to a doctor's appointment. I enjoy doing service with this same group-we often gather supplies for refugees or others who may need physical help with getting a leg up in life. I believe that Jesus asks each of us to give and help others in any way we can.
