Hi I'm Connor

I'm a rugged outdoorsman from the wilds of Alaska. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm from a small town in Alaska. I love doing anything outdoors, especially camping and fishing. I'm super into playing sports. Basketball, Football, Soccer, Volleyball, Ultimate. You say the word, I'm there. I'm currently on my mission in Utah. This truly is "the place"...loving every minute. I have a younger sister and an older sister. And parents. I love 'em all.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church. My mom is a member and my dad is not. Most of my family outside of my Mom and two sisters aren't members. I've seen both sides of the spectrum. I've seen the blessings that come from this church and living by it's teachings and I've also seen how people that do not have this gospel in their lives struggle. I'm a Mormon because I know this church is true. Through diligent prayer I have received an answer directly from my Heavenly Father that this is the true church of Jesus Christ. I am happy to say that I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a 2-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I feel that true faith is shown by what we choose to do...or in other words, our actions. I have chosen to dedicate 2 years of my life to the service of the Lord. I live my faith by trying my hardest to become like Jesus Christ and follow in His footsteps. I am constantly striving to become more obedient, more loving, more diligent, and more patient. Living this faith requires that you accept your faults and try to correct them through repentance and self-growth.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Connor
This is a topic that I really struggled with during those confusing teenage years. I always wondered what to do to get to know Him. The churchy answer was always "pray"...I tried that. I just didn't feel that Heavenly Father was listening to me. The way that I came to know and understand my Heavenly Father was through thinking about my life experiences...and yes, also a lot of prayer. Around 18, I committed myself to reading the scriptures and praying everyday. As I read in the scriptures I always asked myself "how can I apply what I'm reading to myself?" and "what is God trying to tell me/teach me?". Scriptures are the sacred writings of the Lord's prophets here on the Earth. So essentially they are letters directly from God to his children. As I prayed for help in answering these questions, I also pondered on the struggles and trials I had experienced. I tried to apply these same questions to my life experiences. In the proccess, I came to understand and know my Father in Heaven. It was hard but I now understand much more about Him and what he has planned for me. Now, when I face trials, I face them with faith that God has sent these challenges to me for a reason; so that I can learn and progress and come closer to Him. Show more Show less
