Hi I'm Elder Michael Paulsen

I'm a missionary, a brother, a son, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the oldest in a family of six. I've always loved my family and have watched as my siblings have grown up following my example. This has made it so that I haven't wanted to do anything that would influence them wrongly. I was a student in university where I hope to study about computers. I am now serving the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints by going on a two year mission to Chile where I hope to be able to share the gospel to those who the Lord has prepared to hear the truth.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been part of the church all my life and was baptized into it when I was eight years old. I've never thought of leaving even when things have been hard in my life. This gospel is too sweet to let go of. I love all of the lessons that I have learned and am greateful for the blessings that I have in this life like my family, friends, and the world around us. It is too precious and I wish for everyone to have the opportunity to partake of it also.

How I live my faith

I try to have the spirit in my life continually. I love the feeling I get when I do what I know is right and the Joy and peace that comes with it as well. I attend church each sunday and am going to preach the gospel to those who need it. My whole life right now is dedicated to the lord while I'm on my mission and I am willing to give every second to his work and his glory. I study my scriptures each day and do so in spanish a lot. I love all of the lessons that I learn as I read and all of the stories that are inside and they are so miraculous and powerful that when I get into a story I can rarely put them down. My favorite story has been the story of Ammon while he was on a mission and I have read it several times while I've been out. I love how he loves the people and wants to have the same charity I want as I serve on a mission of my own. I love my family and though I am not with them I let them know of my love by doing my best and letting them know in the letters I send.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Elder Michael Paulsen
Joseph Smith was the first prophet of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He is the reason that it has been restored on the earth today. He wanted to know which of the religions of his time were ture and because of such he looked to the bible and saw James 1:5 which says, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men Livrally, and abraideth not, and it shall be given him." Following this direction, one day in the spring of 1820, he went into a grove of trees and prayed to ask God which of the churches was true. In his own ords he described his experience. " I saw a pillar of light, directly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which decended gradually until it fell upon me... and when the light rested upon me I saw two personages, whos' brightness and glory defy all description, standing in the air. One of them spoke unto me, calling me by my name, and said, pointing to the other,"This is my beloved son. Hear him!" Joseph saw God our Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ in that grove of trees. Through Joseph they were able to restore the church in it's fullness, reveal the Book of Mormon which was translated from gold plates by him, and restored the priesthood and its ordinances to the earth. Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Elder Michael Paulsen
The answer to this question is simple. Though there were many prophets and people who added to the Book of Mormon the true author is God. It is his word as given through the prophets just like the bible. It is the Word of God. Show more Show less
