Hi I'm Jared

I'm a jokester. I'm curious. I'm a scientist. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I love discovery, much of my life is spent discovering the world around me. Biology has been one of my passions for many years, I love learning about and understanding everything from the tiny cells in my body to the giant whales in the sea. I love biology so much one of my goals in life is to share it with others, through teaching. I am currently working on becoming a teacher so I can share my passion with others. I also love sports and exercise, I especially enjoy running. I enjoy pushing my body to new heights and overcoming the challenge of running long distances. I love to laugh and joke, seeing a smile on someone's face is one of the my greatest joys. It isn't a good time without at least one corny joke or a funny face. Last of all, and most important, I love my family, I enjoy coming home everyday and seeing my wife light up when I walk through the door. Knowing I will be with her forever keeps me going day to day.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon, because I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is God's church again on the earth. My study of Biology, does not in any way hinder my faith. If anything it strengthens it, as I look at all the wonderful things around I know that they must have a grand creator. Also through sciences I have learned the best method of discovery. It is by careful study and experimentation that I have learned the truths that I hold dear. I discovered these truths for myself through careful study of God's word along with diligent prayer. I was born to Mormon parents, but they did not seek to force me into their beliefs. Instead they lead me to read the word of God (Scriptures) and then to pray to God to know if the things I read were true. I can say without a doubt that I know that the Jesus is the Christ, and that the Bible and Book of Mormon are the word of God. This knowledge I obtained through prayer, it did not come through angels or witnessing miracles. It came through the Spirit of God, which I felt deep within me, and which guides me day today. His touch is subtle but I can feel his promptings as sure as I can see the sun rise. These prompting bring me peace and comfort knowing that I am a son of God, and that by following Christ I can be with my family forever. After all, my family is the most important thing to me. I am so glad God has provided a way that I can not only return to live with him, but I can have my beautiful wife and family right there beside me.

How I live my faith

I love helping people learn and understand what I already know, after all what is the point of knowing something if you can't share it. I really enjoy helping being build their faith in Christ. I believe that key to faith is understanding who Christ is and what He did for us. I want to help everyone around me better understand the what they can gain through a knowledge and belief in Christ. I really enjoy helping young people gain these understandings, they are so eager and willing to learn. Another thing I do that I think is key to faith is personal study. I would not have the faith I do if I didn't spend a little time everyday studying the word of god. Sometimes it is only a sentence or two, but every little things helps. Along side study, I think open communication with god through pray is a big part of my faith. Although I cannot see him I know He hears my prays. He listens, and although it may not be easy to recognize, but he does answer my prayers. I don't always just ask questions, sometimes I just enjoy sharing my day with him, my successes, my failures, and my joys, It brings me comfort knowing He is there and that He is always listening.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Jared
Science can explain many of the processes of the universe. However science fails to explain where everything came from, and how it all got here. In the end there needs to be a higher power, creating and controlling the movement of the galaxies, and all they contain. Such beauty am magnificence could not have appeared through random events and happenstance, the very world around me tells me there is a God. Just take a moment and look at the world around you.
