Hi I'm Carol

I'm Native of Alaska and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in rural Alaska, United States. My hobbies are mainly reading, writing, taking photos, and stargazing. I love poetry and the night sky. Being that I'm shy and quiet, I don't talk much but I'm a good listener. I have a dog named Solar who loves to take me out on walks, especially on the beach on a beautiful sunny day. We love the Sun. I am a Certified Nurse Assistant and I work in a nursing home, I love it.

Why I am a Mormon

It was on the 1st of February, 2010 when I met the missionaries that taught me the Gospel of Jesus Christ. At first, I didn't think that I'd ever become a Mormon. They were just two very nice people who came and listened. And because they listened, I did too. I felt that I needed to. We had many great spiritual moments and I had wondered if they were real. On February 17 the missionaries taught me the Plan of Salvation, it was a very spiritual lesson. I cried because I knew it was true, it was what I believed in. That night I accepted Jesus Christ back into my heart. But even then, I thought that I wasn't ready yet... I prayed and received my answer from the Book of Mormon in Alma 3438 - "That ye contend no more against the Holy Ghost, but that ye receive it, and take upon you the name of Christ that ye humble yourselves even to the dust, and worship God, in whatsoever place ye may be in, in spirit and in truth and that ye live in thanksgiving daily, for the many mercies and blessings which he doth bestow upon you." I knelt down and prayed tearfully. The Gospel has changed me and has given me hope and happiness in my life of much adversity and pain. It inspired me to continue my education and get a job. Most importantly, it let Jesus Christ back into my heart, in whom I had lost faith in 2006. I know in my heart, and I testify, that this Church is true. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

Partaking of the sacrament every week to renew my baptismal covenant is very important to me. Listening for the still, small voice of the Holy Ghost. The word of God nurtures my heart and soul. I study the scriptures daily, also articles from the leaders of our Church, and have them in my thoughts constantly. I love to bear my testimony during Fast Sunday, and any other time. Callings in the Church. Prayer. Visiting, encouraging, and helping people. Holding a current temple recommend and going to the temple. It gives me great delight to help in the work of the Lord.

What are some things that tell to you there is a God?

Carol
As an amateur astronomer, I look out into the night sky and the heavens testify that there is a Creator. I've always believed this. Take a look at yourself and then take a look out there. It's amazing... One of my favorite verses is in Alma 30:44 and it says: "...yea, even the earth, and all things that are upon the face of it, yea, and its motion, yea, and also all the planets which move in their regular form do witness that there is a Supreme Creator." How can I know Mormonism is true?

Carol
Read, and study, the Book of Mormon with real intent of the heart and pray to ask God if it is true. I like to think of it as planting a seed into your heart, as Alma describes in: Alma 32:28 "Now, we will compare the word unto a seed. Now, if ye give place, that a seed may be planted in your heart, behold, if it be a true seed, or a good seed, if ye do not cast it out by your unbelief, that ye will resist the Spirit of the Lord, behold, it will begin to swell within your breasts; and when you feel these swelling motions, ye will begin to say within yourselves—It must needs be that this is a good seed, or that the word is good, for it beginneth to enlarge my soul; yea, it beginneth to enlighten my understanding, yea, it beginneth to be delicious to me." And by faith you shall receive your testimony. It may spring quickly or it may take some time, continue in prayer, studying, and faith. I bear my testimony that this word is good for I have seen the beauty of it grow within me, oh how beautiful it is! It has enlightened my understanding, it has inspired me, and it is very good for my soul. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen. Show more Show less
