Hi I'm Stuart

I'm teaching and earning my masters degree in special education. I love what I do, even though it drives me crazy sometimes.

About Me

My life is awesome.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the miraculous changes and blessings that have come as a result of my faith. Although I grew up in a strong Mormon family, I struggled during my teen years to care about Church. I made mistakes that got me thinking seriously about my life trajectory. I was prompted to read the Book of Mormon at age 15. Reading this inspired book was a catalyst for the changes that turned my life around for the better. I began to take Church seriously and started to spend more time with my family. I began to find purpose and meaning in my life. I felt refreshed, invigorated, and motivated. I slowly realized that God cares for me, and that I could communicate with him through prayer and hear his voice in the scriptures and by personal revelation. Since that time I have committed myself to living the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to living so that I may return to God with my family once my life here is finished. There is nothing more important to me. I'm grateful that God loves us enough to forgive us when we repent and turn to him. I'll always be grateful for the second chances I’ve been given. I know that Christ is the reason we have those chances. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a guiding force in my life. It has strengthened my faith, given me direction, and brought me closer to God and to my family.

How I live my faith

Every day I strive to show love to God and to others. I do this by honoring the promises I made at baptism to live a clean, faithful life of service and meaning. I pray daily and study scriptural texts such as the Bible and the Book of Mormon to learn more about Christ and his teachings. Applying those teachings in my life is what allows me to know of their truthfulness.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

The only beings we worship are God the Father and Jesus Christ. We respect and revere Joseph Smith as a prophet called of God, just as we would Moses or any other prophet past and present. We look to prophets for their inspired guidance and teachings. But ultimately their mission is to direct us to the Savior and our Father in heaven. Show more Show less

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

The Church does not condemn homosexuals or individuals with homosexual tendencies. It is the practice of homosexual activity that the Church warns against, just as it would against any sexually immoral behavior such as adultery. A homosexual individual is loved by God as much as any straight person. But participation in homosexual activity would be a sin. We believe that marriage is sacred, and that to change or alter it to be anything other than between a man and a woman would cause problems not only for the couple but for the children as well. Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

The Church does not endorse political parties. Rather, the Church encourages its members to be politically active and support true principles and practices in whatever form they might be. If the Church feels strongly enough about a certain issue, it may come out and support it, like it did with Prop 8. Show more Show less
